Tomi internet review

Our verdict: Tomi provides fairly priced NBN plans with decent speeds, but there’s not much else to set the provider apart.

Pros

  • Option to pause your plan for 28 days out of the year
  • 24/7 customer service, including live chat

Cons

  • Lack of additional perks on its plans

Tomi internet review

Tomi's prices on the majority of its NBN plans are slightly below the average cost in Finder's database.

Though its plan prices are competitive, its typical evening speeds during the busy hours of the day (7-11pm) are a bit lacking, especially given the lack of features on its plan.

However, what you do get in a simple, no frills NBN plan and the option to pause your internet services for up to 4 weeks in the year.

Value for money

Tomi offers plans across 5 NBN speed categories, barring the slowest tier, NBN 12.

Its prices fall just below the average in Finder's database.

You can either sign up for a month-to-month plan or get on a 24-month contract through which you can get a free modem.

Watch out for:

  • If you sign up to a contract but exit early, you'll need to pay out the modem cost. It will cost $5.90 for each month remaining in the 24-month period.

Performance

Tomi internet is not part of the ACCC broadband performance report, so the reliability of its speeds cannot be officially verified.

  • Why does this matter? The ACCC report allows customers to see which NBN providers are delivering the speeds they've advertised as a measure of reliability.

Based on its advertised typical evening speeds for NBN plans, you're unlikely to hit the maximum speed on most speed tiers.

If maximum typical evening speeds are important to you, you may want to look at other providers.

  • Good to know: Maximum speed is the fastest speed you can get on a speed tier. For example, NBN 50 plans come with a maximum speed of 50Mbps.

Ready to sign up to Tomi internet?

If you decide that Tomi is right for you, simply sign up to the provider via its website. Remember to input your home address before you select your plan to ensure that you're choosing an NBN plan that's available for your property's connection type.

What if I'm moving house?
Once you've completed the sign up process, Tomi will perform a Service Qualification on your premises to check your home's eligibility. After your address is confirmed as eligible, you should expect the connection to be up and running within 2-21 business days.

Make sure to give your current provider a heads-up in case there's a notice period to account for. You don't want to be stuck paying for 2 internet services.
