While Goodtel is a relative newcomer on the broadband scene, only founded as recently as 2019, it's already set itself apart from the rest. Right out of the gate, there are not many other companies that promise to donate 50% of any profits they make to a charitable cause.

In terms of plan value, Goodtel's typical evening speeds are above average for each category (for example, its premium typical speed of 100.00Mbps vs. the ACCC average of 84.5Mbps). Although its plans aren't the cheapest on the market, they are still comparably priced to Finder averages for their speed tier.

All in all, Goodtel's not a bad choice if you're looking to do some good for a number of causes and you don't mind paying a little bit extra to do so.

Extra features from Goodtel

  • Charitable causes. When you sign up to a Goodtel plan, 50% of the profits from your plan will go towards a charitable cause. Goodtel has several charitable partners, including the National Breast Cancer Foundation, OzHarvest and many more.
  • 14-day Goodness Guarantee. You can cancel your Goodtel service within the first 14 days of signing up for no penalty at all. You will also be refunded any modem fee you've paid, but you do have to ship the modem back to Goodtel at your own expense and in good condition.
  • Home phone. By default, you can't make calls on a Goodtel plan. But for an extra $10 a month, you'll get a home phone number and be able to make unlimited national, local and mobile calls within Australia.

Is Goodtel right for your needs?

The good stuff

  • 50% of profits go to a nominated charity
  • No early exit fees on contracts
  • 14-day satisfaction guarantee
  • Choice of BYO modem or purchase one from them

The not-so-good stuff

  • Fairly expensive plans compared to other providers

The bottom line: If you don't mind paying a little more, Goodtel is a solid choice that gives back to charities that matter to you.
