[countdown here somewhere]How to avoid the price rise
You can't escape insurance price rises, and you can't negotiate them down. However, there are some ways you can still save money:
- Review your cover: Check your policy docs and make sure you're still covered for everything you need, and nothing more. You might find you can drop a couple of treatments, maybe you're done having kids and don't need childbirth covered anymore. Of course, you might need to up your cover if things have changed - better to do this sooner rather than later though.
- Compare and switch: There's probably a policy out there that offers everything you're getting now, for less money. You won't know until you check, so use the tools on this page to compare from 40+ Aussie health funds in seconds. You might even be eligible for a new sign-up bonus!
- Pay in advance: If you have some money burning a hole in your pocket, you can pay your premiums up-front. by paying for 12 or 18 months now, you'll lock in today's rates for a year or more. Talk to your health fund for details.
Of course, you can do any or all of these. There's no reason you couldn't find a better policy from a new provider and pay a year up-front.
