OVO Mobile's 70GB data-only plan pitches towards folks who can't get on the NBN.

OVO Mobile launched its latest prepaid SIM-only deal for its data-only SIM product line, with 70GB of onboard data for just $79.95.

OVO’s positioning the deal as an ideal option for customers still awaiting (or unable to access) connections on the National Broadband Network, due to the large quantity of data on offer. That’s large by mobile broadband standards, as fixed line broadband services are increasingly trending towards unlimited data packages. We're not likely to see unlimited data use mobile plans in Australia any time soon.

OVO's plans do included unlimited "OVO Time" streaming of its supported services, which include Audi Sport Customer Racing, 400 Thunder, Gymnastics Australia as well as radio streaming through Austereo's range of nationwide radio stations.

Mobile data remains the key comparison metric even for plans that include other features such as calls and texts, because in the mobile space they’re often offered on an unlimited basis across even the lowest cost prepaid plans.

OVO’s move rather closely mirrors the move made by amaysim last week when it launched its own high-data SIM-only plans. Both amaysim and OVO now offer both 70GB and 50GB data plans. Both MVNOs operate on Optus’ 4G network, which strongly suggests that the carrier has opened up deals for its virtual operator partners for large data quota plans.

If you’re keen on any of OVO’s mobile broadband plans, the full details are below.
