Kogan adds pet and life insurance to its ever-growing product suite
The online retailer now offers nearly every form of consumer-facing insurance product.
Kogan continues its expansion into the insurance industry, with its new pet insurance and life insurance products available from today. These new additions largely round-out its consumer-facing insurance portfolio, making the online retailer a virtual one-stop insurance shop for the everyday Aussie.
It's been a swift advance. Kogan entered the insurance space with a bang in August 2017, launching home, contents, travel, car and landlord insurance in one fell swoop. Health insurance was next (February 2018), and now here we are.
Kogan believes the newest offerings strengthen its overall value-proposition: to be a community hub where "smart shoppers" can find desirable products and services offering a mix of quality, value and selection.
“We are excited to continue to delight our Aussie customers and extend our insurance offering for Kogan.com’s community of over 8 million subscribers”, Kogan.com executive director David Shafer said in a statement.
Kogan Pet Insurance will be underwritten by PetSure, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hollard Insurance Company.
Kogan thinks this product will resonate with the pet-loving Australian public, citing the Australian Veterinary Association's (AVA) research into pet ownership. According to the AVA, Australia has one of the highest rates of pet ownership in the world, with 62% of all Aussie households owning a pet.
“We know pets are an important part of many families, and we’re proud to provide Aussies with a simple and affordable option to ensure their pets are covered, without breaking the bank", Mr Shafer said.
Kogan Life Insurance, which includes an option for funeral cover, will be issued by Hannover Life Re of Australasia Ltd and distributed by Greenstone Financial Services Pty Ltd.
“Kogan.com is very proud to be providing Aussies with life and funeral insurance policies that protect their loved ones. Affordable options are designed to give customers peace of mind and relieve financial stress during difficult times. From today, smart shoppers will be able to rest peacefully at night knowing they are covered should the unexpected happen,” Mr Shafer said.
For a limited time, new pet insurance customers can receive one month of free cover and new life insurance customers can receive up to $150 in credit that can be spent sitewide on Kogan.com.
