No Medical Life Insurance
Want life insurance without the hassle of a medical exam? No medical life insurance could be the answer. Keep in mind there are limitations for policies that aren't fully underwritten.
Life Insurance is a little complicated and a lot overwhelming. That's why we made the Finder Score, to make it easier to compare Life Insurance products against each other. Our experts analysed over 20 products and gave each one a score between 1 and 10.
But a higher score doesn't always mean a product is better for you. Your situation is unique, so your policy choice will be too. Don't think of Finder Score as the final word, but as a good place to start your life insurance comparison.
It's designed to help replace lost wages while you're unable to work, pay for any medical expenses that might pop up or even make sure your family can maintain their lifestyle without your income.
No medical life insurance is the same. The only difference is that you don't need to visit a doctor before you get a policy. It's less hassle than standard life insurance and can be approved much quicker, but it's not tailored to your specific circumstances so it's better suited to people who lead a healthy lifestyle and have no pre-existing health conditions.
How does no medical life insurance work?
Before you're approved for no medical life insurance, you'll have to fill in a questionnaire about yourself and your overall health. This means you have to disclose some details such as your BMI, whether you smoke and how much alcohol you drink. The insurer will also ask if you have any pre-existing medical conditions and may ask about your family's medical history.
Make sure you're honest in your disclosure. If you give misleading information, the insurance company can't determine the right coverage for you and may even be able to deny a claim further down the line.
A claim may be denied if you don't give accurate information
Not suitable for smokers or heavy drinkers
Not suitable for people with pre-existing medical conditions
Who should apply for no medical life insurance?
We can't tell you whether you should apply for no medical life insurance, but we can say that no medical life insurance is better suited to the following people:
Healthy people. No medical life insurance isn't the best option if you have pre-existing medical conditions, smoke or drink heavily. If this is the case, you may want to consider standard life insurance instead.
Busy people. No medical life insurance has an easy application process, with no need to arrange a medical exam. It's great for people who have little time to spare.
If you're in a rush. Fully underwritten life insurance can take weeks to be approved, but no medical life insurance can be done in just a matter of days.
Just because you can opt for an insurance policy without a medical exam, it doesn't mean you should. An insurer needs to understand your risk level so they can then offer you a policy that, ultimately, you could successfully claim against in the future. In general, this is more likely if you've provided them with more information during the application process. Read more about how a life insurance medical exam typically works.
Can seniors get no medical life insurance?
Yes, it is possible for seniors to take out life insurance without having to go through medical underwriting. There are a couple of things to be aware of though.
If you're over 65, you're probably going to pay a lot more in premiums due to your age. So if you don't have debts or a lot of financial commitments as you approach your retirement, have a think if life insurance is really worth the ongoing cost of the premiums you'll pay.
The other big consideration is that no medical life insurance can often have a lot more conditions making it harder to make a successful claim. If you're a senior and looking for a more comprehensive form of cover for your life insurance, it could be worth going through medical underwriting just to make sure there aren't any unforeseen issues when it comes time to make a claim.
Can I get no medical life insurance if I have a pre-existing medical condition?
In some cases, you may be able to get no medical life insurance even if you have a pre-existing condition. However, it's likely that this condition will be excluded from the policy. That means if you die as a result of that condition, your family won't receive a benefit.
If you have a pre-existing medical condition, always declare it to the insurer. It's the only way to make sure you have a policy you can trust.
Do I have to declare existing medical conditions for no medical life insurance?
Yes. It's important to be honest and upfront about any medical conditions you may have as well as your lifestyle habits such as smoking and alcohol consumption.
If you're not accurate in your declaration, your insurer may deny a claim when you or your family really need it. It's better to pay a bit more for a policy and be secure in the knowledge it will pay out when it comes to claim time.
What's involved in a life insurance medical exam?
Some people opt for no medical exam life insurance due to fear of doctors or discomfort with medical exams. However, it's important to understand what the process entails before making a decision. No medical exam policies can be a hassle-free way to get coverage quickly, but they may come with higher premiums and limited coverage. It's worth considering the pros and cons of no medical exam life insurance before making a decision.
Typically, you can expect a medical exam to look at the following:
Blood
Urine
Blood pressure
Cognitive tests
Height
Weight
Cholesterol
Treadmill test

There are many reasons why you might be denied life insurance including health reasons, a high-risk occupation or a dangerous pastime. You can get life insurance of well over $1,000,000 without a medical exam. Providers like NobleOak and RAC offer some of the highest levels of cover we've seen and can cover you up to $25,000,000.
No medical life insurance isn't necessarily more expensive than one that requires a medical. Some of the cheapest life insurance policies are actually no medical ones. But keep in mind, you generally get what you pay for with life cover. Low pricing alone shouldn't be a deciding factor when you shop around for your insurance.
The cost of your policy is based on several factors, however, and if you have a pre-existing medical condition this could mean a higher premium than someone without one.
Yes, there are several insurers that offer million-dollar policies without a medical exam. You will likely have to complete a health questionnaire that will determine whether you can be insured or not.

Important information about this website
finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stands by our editorial principles
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
Please read our website terms of use and privacy policy for more information about our services and our approach to privacy.
We update our data regularly, but information can change between updates. Confirm details with the provider you're interested in before making a decision.
