Hi Robert,

No, an individual AMP Go Save account cannot be opened as a joint account; it must be opened by an individual who also has an AMP Bank GO Everyday Account.

Hi,

The AMP Bank Go Save Account currently offers 4.25% p.a. on balances up to $250,000 with no conditions.

It sounds like you might have the AMP Saver account – this is a different account. With the AMP Saver Account you need to grow your balance by $250 per month to earn the bonus interest rate. If you don’t do this, you’ll only earn 0.25% p.a.

To get the 4.25% p.a. rate I’d suggest looking at the AMP Bank Go account instead: https://www.finder.com.au/bank-accounts/amp-savings-accounts/amp-bank-go-save-account

Thanks,

Alison

Hi, I am interested in your accounts. Can I open one in a self managed super fund name or only in my personal name?

Hi,

You’ve reached Finder. The AMP Bank Go Save account can only be opened for personal use (not for an SMSF).

Thanks,

Alison

Could you also tell me what is the best interest rate on the whole $600,000.

Hi Carol,

AMP’s Go Save Account does pay interest on balances over $250,000, it’s just at a reduced rate. At the moment it pays 3.50% p.a. on the portion of your balance between $250,000 and $5 million.

Most banks allow you to open more than one account if you want to, however you’ll only be eligible for interest on your first account (i.e. you won’t get the full interest rate on both accounts).

Some other options for large balances include: Macquarie Savings Account offers 4.25% p.a. on balances up to $2m, and Bank of QLD Simple Saver offers 4.05% p.a. on balances up to $5m.

Thanks,

Alison
