Key features

You can sign up for an Up transaction account in a couple of minutes and it's compatible with both Android and iOS. You'll be able to get a PayID on application to make instant payments to other bank accounts and you'll receive your Up card in 5-10 days. While you're waiting for your card to arrive, you can set up Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay and start making contactless purchases with your smartphone instantly.

When you use the card, your transactions are automatically categorised and you'll receive real-time reports. You'll also have more visibility into your spending with details such as merchant IDs, the time of day you made the purchase and the location being available. Up also automatically detects your regular bills and predicts when they will next occur.

How to apply

Up transaction and savings accounts are available to individuals over the age of 16. You just need $1 in the account to get started.

Is this just a debit card? So you can only spend what money you have deposited. How does one deposit funds? How many vendors do not accept Mastercard?

      Hi Jim,

Thanks for your comment. Up Bank is digital and all accessible through Up’s smartphone app. If you are looking for debit card access you can choose Up Everyday Account where you have a PAYID and a card. If you have a savings goal, you can opt for the Up Saver Account where you sign up for as many savings accounts as you want instantly from within the app and each will be attached to a specific savings goal.

Your Up spending account has a BSB and Account Number like any other bank account in Australia. You can also easily nominate your phone number or email address as a “PayID”. Up lets you use your BSB and Account Number, or your phone number or your email address to deposit money almost instantly using “Osko”. Osko provides near-instant payments 24/7 (including weekends) between participating financial institutions.

As of this writing, our page doesn’t have a list of vendors who does not accept Mastercard. To obtain this information, please check the vendor’s payment options before using your Up card.

      Hope this helps!

      Best,
      Nikki

      Hi K,

Thanks for reaching out to Finder.

Unfortunately, Up Bank does not currently support joint accounts.

If you are looking to open a joint bank account, you can also see and compare your options on this page.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,
      Charisse

It seems like a great product, with one exception – there’s a $5,000 daily limit on payments to external accounts, even your own with other institutions. Therefore there’s no way to easily and quickly withdraw more than this.
