All policies require you to pay an excess with a cooling off period of 20 days. You can cancel your policy within this timeframe and get a full refund but only if you haven't made a claim.

We looked at home insurance complaint data from the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) between July 2021 and June 2022. The data explores different underwriters and compares their business size to the number of complaints processed.
When comparing insurers, keep in mind that those with a larger market share serve more customers so can potentially get more complaints. Here's an overview of how Youi stacked up against other insurers.
Youi Pty Ltd only had 218 complaints, significantly less than other similar-sized insurers, suggesting its customer service is strong.
While it did get more complaints, The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd was able to resolve a larger proportion directly with its customer, which means it could be better for its customer service.
Bottom line about Youi home insurance
Youi home insurance is ideal if you want a policy that's tailored to your home and your needs. However, it's not great if you just want to buy a policy quickly and it doesn't offer a sum insured safety net.

These home owners may be owner-occupiers or landlords. Contents insurance is suitable for renters as well. It's not suitable for homes:
that are not in an liveable condition
affected by storm surge, landslip, subsidence or erosion, actions of the sea or tides, rising damp or ground water seepage
part of a strata title
that are used as hotels
in the Northern Territory, far north Queensland or northern Western Australia
not insured before purchasing this policy and the home owner requires cover for flood, storm or bushfire within the first 72 hours of taking out a policy
