Youi Home Insurance

Youi home insurance review

Youi home insurance is good if you want a policy that’s tailored to your circumstances, less so if you want a quick online quote.

Our Verdict

  • Youi offers tailored cover specific to your needs. That's good if you want peace of mind, but not if you're just looking to get a quick quote online like you can with other insurers.
  • It's won a bunch of customer service awards, making it a good option if you want friendly, personalised service.
  • It doesn't offer a sum insured safety net. That means if you don't value your home at the right price, you might be underinsured.

  • Wear and tear, rust or rising damp
  • Illegal activity
  • Intentional or deliberate acts or omissions
  • Damage that existed prior to you taking out a policy

This isn't an extensive list of Youi's general exclusions. You can find them on its PDS.

Youi home insurance complaints

We looked at home insurance complaint data from the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) between July to December 2020. The data explores different underwriters and compares their business size to the number of complaints processed.

When comparing insurers, keep in mind that those with a larger market share serve more customers so can potentially get more complaints. Here's an overview of how Youi stacked up against other insurers.

  • Youi Pty Ltd only had 26 complaints, significantly less than other similar sized insurers, suggesting its customer service is strong.
  • While it didn't get many complaints, Auto & General had slightly less so could be better for its customer service.

Bottom line about Youi home insurance

Youi home insurance is ideal if you want a policy that's tailored to your home and your needs. However, it's not great if you just want to buy a policy quickly and it doesn't offer a sum insured safety net.

You can compare Youi policies side-by-side with other insurers if you're not yet ready to take out home insurance.

      Hello Lalith,

      Thank you for your comment.

For landlord insurance on investment property, please refer to the brands listed in the comparison table that you can get quotes from. You can press the “Get a quote” button to be redirected to the insurer’s website where you can get a quotation.

Please make sure to read the eligibility criteria, features, and details of the policy, as well as the relevant Product Disclosure Statement PDS/T&C’s of the policy before making a decision and consider whether the product is right for you. If necessary, speak to the insurance brand to verify any details.

      Regards,
      Jhezelyn
