What I liked about Xe Business
- No transfer fee on most payments. Xe doesn't charge a transfer fee on most international business payments, and it shows all costs upfront before you confirm.
- Tools to manage currency risk. You can use spot transfers, limit orders, forward contracts and structured options to control when and at what rate you pay.
- Batch and mass payments. Pay a few suppliers at once, or upload one file to pay hundreds or thousands of recipients, which suits payroll and contractor payouts.
- Multi-currency accounts. Hold, convert and send money in more than 20 currencies from one business account, with no setup or monthly fees.
- Team controls. Separate roles for submitting and approving payments mean one person can't create and approve the same payment.
- Established and regulated. Xe is owned by NASDAQ-listed Euronet Worldwide, licensed by ASIC and supervised by AUSTRAC.
What I didn't like about Xe Business
- Pricing isn't published. Xe tailors pricing to each business, so you need a quote to see the exchange rate you'll get.
- Some transfers take days. Xe says most transfers take between 1 and 5 business days, so build that into payment deadlines.
- No Xero integration listed. Xe connects with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Sage Intacct, but doesn't list Xero.
How competitive are Xe's exchange rates?
Xe doesn't publish a set margin for business transfers. It offers tailored pricing based on your business's needs and shows the full cost, including the exchange rate, before you confirm a payment.
To check you're getting a good deal, compare the rate Xe quotes with the mid-market rate on the day, and get a quote from at least one other business transfer provider. This matters most for large or regular payments, where a small difference in the rate adds up.

What are the ways I can send money abroad with Xe?
Xe Business sends bank-to-bank payments. It also has tools to help you manage currency risk and pay lots of people at once:
- Spot transfers. Send money now at the live exchange rate.
- Limit orders. Set a target exchange rate and Xe sends your transfer automatically when the market reaches it. Xe sometimes calls these market orders.
- Forward contracts. Lock in today's rate for payments you'll make later. Xe's forwards page says you can book up to 24 months ahead, and contracts beyond 12 months need credit approval. You pay a margin of the contract value upfront and settle the rest later. Read more about how forward contracts work.
- Structured options. Protect your business against a worst-case rate while still benefiting if the market moves in your favour.
- Batch and mass payments. Pay multiple recipients in one transaction, or upload a single file to pay hundreds or thousands of people.
- Scheduled payments. Choose a future date and Xe sends the payment automatically on that day.
- Payments API and ERP integrations. Build Xe payments into your own platform, or connect Xe to Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Sage Intacct.
Xe's FX dealers can also help you plan a currency risk strategy if your business regularly pays or gets paid in foreign currencies.
How to send a business payment with Xe
You need a free Xe business profile before you can send money. Xe says setup takes less than 5 minutes.
Who is Xe Business best for?
Xe Business suits businesses that pay overseas suppliers, staff or contractors regularly and want more control over exchange rates. Xe has dedicated services for importers and exporters, manufacturers, travel businesses, retailers and payroll.
It's less suited to businesses that need an accounting integration with Xero. If that's you, compare Wise for Business, Airwallex and Revolut Business.
Xe reviews and complaints
Xe is rated "Excellent" on Trustpilot, and most reviewers give it 5 stars (see the score below). Trustpilot reviews cover all Xe customers, not just business accounts.
Positive reviews mention fast transfers, competitive rates and an easy process for repeat payments. Negative reviews mention delays on bank transfers, a slow onboarding process for some businesses and fiddly recipient setup.
Is Xe safe to use?
Xe has been in business since 1993 and has been part of Euronet Worldwide, a NASDAQ-listed payments company, since 2015. In Australia, Xe says it's licensed by ASIC and supervised by AUSTRAC.
- Security and regulation: licensed by ASIC (AFSL) and supervised by AUSTRAC. Regulation is a compliance obligation, not a government guarantee of your money.
- Established: 1993.
- Business customers: More than 15,000 businesses, moving over $130 billion a year.
- Reviews: Trustpilot gives Xe a score of 4.4* out of 5, based on 87,448 reviews.
What payment methods does Xe accept?
Xe says business customers in Australia can pay for a transfer by wire transfer, bank transfer or card. Xe doesn't accept prepaid cards, and it may limit card payments when you first start using it. If you hold money in an Xe multi-currency account, you can also pay from that balance.
How long does an Xe business transfer take?
Xe says most business transfers take between 1 and 5 business days. Less common currencies and remote destinations can take longer.
