Ozicare Home Insurance review

A summary of how the provider compares to others in the market

Our verdict

Pros

  • Cost comparison of over 40 brands found Ozicare was among the cheapest.
  • Research showed the average annual Ozicare home insurance policy was almost $1,000 less than nationwide average.
  • Choose to add optional underinsurance protection - a benefit not offered by all brands.

Cons

  • Only $5,000 is covered as standard for jewellery - the national average is over $6,000 and some brands offer over $10,000 including Bupa and Guild.
  • There's no cover for storm surge or environmental upgrades, widely offered elsewhere.
  • Many benefits are optional, so if you want a more comprehensive policy, expect your premium to go up.

Price

Cost research into over 40 home insurance brands found that Ozicare was among the cheapest. Only three brands - AAMI, Budget Direct and Virgin - offered cheaper cover. The average annual home insurance policy quote was around $2,780 while Ozicare's was almost $1,000 cheaper at $1,836.

However, remember your quote could be significantly different, as pricing is based on the specific details of your home and its contents
