What plans are offered by Powershop?

Electric

Electricity

This is a discounted pack offering the best discount available on the day of purchase. It's always available and is a great way to take advantage of offers, so long as you log in at least once a month. The Power Saver Pack comes with a 12% conditional discount and is available in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland.

This pack allows you to buy in bulk upfront and save on your energy costs. With the Mega Pack, you pre-purchase three months of energy, so you can save. With a 15% conditional discount, it's a larger discount than the Power Saver Pack because you will pay more upfront. Available in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland.

This provides electricity at rates that exactly match each state's reference price, without any discounts. If you don't buy into one of their other market offers, this is the maximum price you will pay for electricity.

Future Packs and Super Future Packs let you lock in a discount by purchasing power in advance. This is a good way of limiting your power bills during the warmer months. The Super Future Packs help you save more by offering you the biggest discount available. The further out you buy a Future Pack, the bigger the discount. Available in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland.

The Your Community Energy Powerpack lets you support small-scale renewable energy in Australia, with a small premium used to fund community renewable energy projects around Australia. Available in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland.

If you prefer to set and forget, Powershop also offers Powershop Lite, a set-and-forget service more in line with traditional energy retailers with a monthly bill paid by direct debit. Powershop Lite still works out cheaper than the Reference Price/VDO, making it a good option for those who want to buy energy this way. Available in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland.

Gas

Gas

Only available in Victoria, you can choose from the Gas Saver Pack, Gas Mega Pack or Gas Auto Pay Pack. The Auto Pay Pack is the default pack if you haven't purchased any discounted packs.

Solar panel

Does Powershop offer solar?

As a green energy provider, Powershop offers feed-in solar tariffs across all the regions it retails electricity.

While Powershop won't install solar panels for customers, it does have its own solar advisory service, called Better Solar.

You don't actually have to be a Powershop customer to take advantage of the Better Solar program, you just need to be a resident looking to install solar panels in New South Wales, Victoria, South East Queensland or South Australia.

Once you fill in the interest form, Powershop will get one of its installers to offer a comprehensive solar proposal as well as an estimate of any potential savings you could make from installing a solar system.

Green energy

How green is Powershop?

Greenpeace has rated Powershop as Australia's greenest energy company for three years in a row. Not only does Powershop automatically carbon offset all its customers' energy usage for no additional cost, it also supports the government's GreenPower initiative.

Because Powershop sells energy through Powerpacks, GreenPower is incredibly versatile, allowing you to pre-purchase as much GreenPower energy as you want.

Instead of choosing the percentage of GreenPower you want to purchase, you simply buy as much of the relevant GreenPower Powerpack you wish to spend in advance.

Tag discount

Does Powershop offer any special incentives to sign up?

There are a number of reasons worth signing up to Powershop for:

  • Green power. Powershop offers 100% carbon offsets for no additional cost, plus flexible GreenPower options and solar feed-in tariffs.
  • Refer-a-friend bonus. Get a neighbour or friend to sign up with Powershop and get a $75 credit on your account, applied as a $25 discount every month for 3 months.
  • Curb Your Power program. Victorians can take advantage of the Curb Your Power program, which offers a $10 credit on your account if you can reduce your usage to a specified curb target during a peak demand event.

Mobile phone

Can I manage my plan from my phone?

Yes. Everything is online, meaning no paper bills. The Powershop smartphone app is an easy way to keep on top of your energy usage and pay your bill on the go. The Powershop app lets you buy power whenever you need or want it. You can let the app notify you when it's time to pay your bill or if you're very organised, you can open the app and do it yourself.

Important notes: The estimated price we show by default is based on a single rate tariff. On your bill this might be known as a 'peak tariff', 'peak only' or an 'anytime tariff'. There are other tariff types available to customers and you may need to contact your provider if you are on these tariffs:

  • Single rate with a controlled load
  • Time of use
  • Time of use with a controlled load

The price estimate should not be used as an official quote, but an indication of what your costs may be on the plan. It varies based on whether you provide us with your bill details. You can learn more here.
