Lumo Energy offers a couple of electricity plans to residents of both VIC and SA, as well as one plan that's unique to each. It has the same spread of plans for natural gas, again in both VIC and SA.
With no contract term or exit fees, this is a simple residential electricity plan. It offers lower rates than the reference price and no conditional discounts.
Pitched at renters who are more likely to have to move, the Lumo Movers plan promises no connection or disconnection fees at your old and new property with a few terms and conditions. While it has the same usage rates as the Basic plan, you'll be paying a slightly higher daily supply rate. There's a pay on time discount in VIC, and customers in SA get access to Lumo Ameego rewards with Movers.
Only for Victorian residents. Nearly identical to the Lumo Basic plan, but includes a pay on time discount for customers.
Only for South Australian residents. It has the same usage and supply rates as the Basic plan, but includes access to the Lumo Ameego rewards program.
No special conditions or discounts, just variable natural gas with no lock-in contract or exit fees.
Waives connection and disconnection fees with terms and conditions, but slightly bumps up daily supply charges compared to the Basic plan.
Victorian residents alone can access this plan, which is the same as the Basic but with a pay on time discount.
For South Australians only. Get the Basic Gas plan but with access to the Lumo Ameego rewards program, as well.
You won't be able to get Lumo Energy to install a solar set-up, but if you already own one you'll be eligible for feed-in tariffs on whatever you pump back into the power grid.
How green is Lumo Energy?
Lumo Energy scored a 5.6/10 on the Green Electricity Guide, placing it in the top third of Australian energy retailers. Owned by Snowy Hydro, Lumo has mostly renewable energy assets and equitable solar offers. While it has no current investments in coal, it does not have a public position against them, and isn't involved in energy management or trading schemes.
Currently, Lumo Energy isn't GreenPower certified and has no accredited GreenPower options for customers.
Does Lumo Energy offer any special incentives to sign up?
- Lumo Ameego. Customers in South Australia on the Plus or Movers plan get access to the Lumo Ameego rewards program, which promises discounted movie vouchers, groceries, and more. However, it's managed by an app which many users have complained doesn't work for them, so watch out.
Can I manage my plan from my phone?
No, there's no special phone app for managing your plan. You can manage your account and pay bills anytime using the 24/7 MyAccount platform on the Lumo Energy website, though.
