Moose NBN review: Our verdict

Moose NBN keeps things affordable across 4 speed tiers, ranging from NBN 25 to NBN 500.

All plans are month-to-month and come with unlimited data.

Its plans are cheaper than average, even without factoring in any special sign-up deals.

On the downside, Moose NBN has one of the higher customer complaint volumes. That said, it consistently resolves those complaints faster than the majority of telcos.

The speed tier range is also limited. For instance, there's no NBN 750 or NBN 1000 option, so heavy users or households craving ultrafast speeds will need to look elsewhere.

Overall, Moose NBN is a solid, no-frills pick for budget-conscious households that want reliable everyday speeds without paying for extras they don't need.

Pros

  • Plans are cheaper than average, even without a sign-up discount
  • Australia-based customer support
  • No lock-in contracts or cancellation fees

Cons

  • You don't get speeds faster than NBN 500
  • No bundling discounts if you also have a Moose Mobile plan

Compare Moose fixed-line NBN plans

These plans are available in most NBN-covered areas, though speeds faster than NBN 100 require an FTTP or HFC connection. Entering your address on Moose NBN's website will show you which plans are available with your connection type.

What features are included with Moose NBN plans?

Moose keeps its NBN plans straightforward, without any frills, which is why it falls in the budget telco category.

There are no lock-in contracts, each plan includes unlimited data and you have the option to bring your own modem as long as it's compatible.

How does Moose NBN rate on performance?

Moose NBN advertises typical evening download speeds that match the maximum of each NBN tier, such as 50Mbps on its NBN 50 plan and 100Mbps on its NBN 100 plan.

Unlike larger providers like Exetel, Optus and Telstra, Moose NBN isn't currently included in the ACCC's Measuring Broadband Australia reports.

As a result, there's no independent data to confirm whether it consistently reaches those peak-hour speeds (7-11pm).

How does Moose NBN rate for customer service?

You can reach Moose NBN's Australia-based customer support team in the following ways:

  • Call on weekdays between 9am and 7pm AEST, or on weekends between 10am and 5pm AEST
  • Send an email
  • Submit a support ticket via its website or use the live chat feature

According to the most recent ACMA data (July-September 2025), Moose Mobile, which also provides Moose NBN, ranks highly for efficiency, resolving complaints in an average of just one day.

It's worth noting ACMA reports this under "Moose Mobile," so the figures combine both mobile and NBN services.

On Moose 25mbs plan, getting 14 to 16 mbs on speed test. Using 5 year old telstra gen 2 modem router. Would a new tech modem make a difference ?

Hi Keith, it might be the modem or there may be other factors affecting your download speeds. For example, if you’re on FTTN (Fibre to the Node) – which is a type of NBN connection – line distance and copper quality can limit your speed no matter what modem you have. If you could tell me what technology you have at your place that could help. You can pop your address here and it’ll tell you whether you have FTTP, HFC, FTTN etc: https://www.nbnco.com.au/connect-home-or-business/check-your-address.

You can also plug a laptop directly into the modem with an Ethernet cable. If you still only get ~15Mbps, the issue is likely with your NBN connection or provider, not the modem.

Once you get back to me regarding your NBN connection I can help you a bit more :)
