Following its acquisition by Swoop Broadband in 2022, Moose briefly stopped accepting new NBN customers. It is now back to offering both NBN and mobile plans.
All plans come with no lock-in contract, unlimited data and local/onshore customer support with options for fixed-line and fixed-wireless internet.
Its plans are cheaper than average, even without factoring in any special sign-up deals.
On the downside, customer complaints are extremely high, although it does resolve complaints quicker than most telcos. You also can't bundle Moose NBN's mobile and NBN plans to save money.
Moose NBN provides reliably fast downloads on each speed tier, even during the busiest hours of the day. However, there are currently no options for superfast or ultrafast internet.
Despite these caveats, Moose NBN provides decent speeds at low prices. You will need to look elsewhere for superfast and ultrafast internet but Moose is a good option for the average household.
We currently don't have that product, but here are others to consider:

Moose NBN speeds
Moose NBN's typical evening speeds closely match the advertised maximum on fixed-line plans. This is not always the case with budget telcos, which sometimes struggle with network congestion between 7pm-11pm.
Its fixed-wireless speeds are less impressive, however. You can expect to receive around 73% of the advertised maximum during peak usage times. This is well below the industry average of 85.3%.
Moose NBN's available speed tiers are starting to look outdated. There are only 4 choices: NBN 12, NBN 25, NBN 50 and NBN 100. There are no NBN 200 or NBN 1000 plans.
With that said, some Moose NBN 100 customers may be eligible for a 500Mbps speed boost as part of the NBN Co's network upgrade. This will be rolled out automatically and free of charge.
You will need a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connection to qualify for the upgrade.
What features and perks does Moose NBN offer?
In a bid to keep costs down, Moose NBN keeps the flashy extras to a minimum.
If you already have a compatible modem, you can avoid paying anything extra by signing up to a BYO plan. If you need help, a local team member will talk you through the process on the day of connection.
Alternatively, you can purchase a pre-configured modem from Moose NBN for $130. (This is a once-off cost that will be added to your first bill. The modem is then yours to keep.)
How good is Moose NBN's customer service?
According to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA)'s most recent complaints-handling data, Moose NBN is near the bottom of the pile.
Its NBN service received the third highest overall number of complaints, below Optus and Vodafone. (The ACMA does not break down complaints by type. They typically centre around connection dropouts, modem/router faults, connection delays or the complaints handling process itself.)
On the plus side, Moose NBN is currently ranked #1 for resolving customer complains.
On average, it took Moose just 1 day to satisfactorily resolve a complaint. (The average across all telcos is 6 days.)
Moose's customer service is 100% based in Australia. Crucially, this includes a phone service alongside email and online ticketing.
You can reach Moose NBN in the following ways:
Call (07) 3193 9400 on weekdays between 9am and 7pm AEST or on weekends between 10am and 5pm AEST.
Send an email to admin@moosemobile.com.au

Hi Keith, it might be the modem or there may be other factors affecting your download speeds. For example, if you’re on FTTN (Fibre to the Node) – which is a type of NBN connection – line distance and copper quality can limit your speed no matter what modem you have. If you could tell me what technology you have at your place that could help. You can pop your address here and it’ll tell you whether you have FTTP, HFC, FTTN etc: https://www.nbnco.com.au/connect-home-or-business/check-your-address.
You can also plug a laptop directly into the modem with an Ethernet cable. If you still only get ~15Mbps, the issue is likely with your NBN connection or provider, not the modem.
Once you get back to me regarding your NBN connection I can help you a bit more :)

Finder is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stand by our editorial principles.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
