Expert review

This account has no monthly account keeping fee and no ongoing deposit conditions to meet, and you can use your debit card to withdraw money from all Big Four bank ATMs in Australia for free.

Not only does this account offer Apple Pay and Google Pay, but it also offers a Bankwest Halo Ring which you can wear on your finger and use to make tap and go payments by hovering your hand over the payment terminal. The payment ring is really unique to Bankwest.

If you’re planning to take the card overseas with you there are some fees to watch out for. There’s a $5 fee when you withdraw cash from an overseas ATM, and the local ATM operator might also charge its own fee. There’s also a 2.95% international transaction fee when you make purchases in another currency. You might not notice these fees on smaller trips, but if you spend a lot of time overseas it might be worth considering an account that doesn’t charge these overseas fees.

Something else unique about this account is that you can open up to 10 accounts which can be used for different purposes. For example one can be for bills, one for day-to-day spending, one for eating out and shopping. This strategy can help you manage your money so you’re not overspending in any one area.
