Vodafone’s $5 roaming on its mobile plans now covers even more countries
This is great news for business travellers and those reuniting with family after so long apart.
Vodafone's made its already stellar $5 a day roaming plan even better by adding an extra 22 countries to the list – just in time for Christmas holiday travel.
You can find the list of destinations that Vodafone's added to its international roster below.
How does Vodafone's roaming plan work?
Vodafone's roaming plan allows its mobile customers to use their regular postpaid plan overseas in eligible countries – as though they were home – for just $5 a day.
Here's a quick run-down of Vodafone's postpaid plans that you can sign up to for the roaming add-on:
- $40 per month for 80GB
- $50 per month for 200GB
- $60 per month for 300GB
- $85 per month for unlimited data
How does it compare to roaming plans from Optus and Telstra?
In a statement, Vodafone's group executive for consumer Kieren Cooney said:
"It's been a tough couple of years, and so many of us are really looking forward to travelling again. The last thing people should have to worry about is being stung with thousands of dollars on their mobile bill."
Cooney also reminisced that back in the golden days of 2019, nearly half a million Vodafone customers took advantage of $5 roaming each month.
What other options do you have?
Vodafone's roaming deal is the best one currently available if you're keen to use your normal SIM card and number while travelling.
However, it only represents great value for shorter trips. You're likely going to be better off buying a local prepaid SIM card in the country you're visiting.
