Hint: There's a trade-in offer that could get you the S22 for only $349.

Rumour has it that Samsung's newly unveiled S22 line-up could suffer a major stock shortage.

If you're eager to get in on the pre-order madness but don't want to pay a hefty price, here's the cheapest way to get the S22 in Australia right now on a phone plan.

Woolies' discounted phone plans makes its the cheapest overall

Pre-ordering from Woolworths Mobile could be the cheapest way to buy the S22 since its phone plans are priced lower than the major telcos. Plus, Woolies is offering up to $400 in savings depending on which model you select.

You can pay off your phone over 24 or 36 months by pairing your repayment plan with a Woolies' SIM only plan. The cheapest one costs $25 for 20GB. We used it to give you an example of how much you could be paying at minimum each month.

  • S22 from $55.33 a month, save $240
  • S22+ from $61 a month, save $360
  • S22 Ultra from $68.88 a month, save $400

You'll also get access to a Samsung eVoucher. This offers a free accessory pack valued between $99 and $337 (this freebie isn't exclusive to Woolies though).

But, Vodafone's S22 offers could save some of you more money

While Woolies is offering the cheapest phone plan, both Vodafone's also slinging a huge trade-in promotion that offers $600 bonus credit on an eligible device which is in good working condition.

This means that if you do have an eligible phone to trade-in, then opting for Vodafone could be the cheapest way to buy the S22 for you.

Here are a couple of examples of the type of big savings you're looking at if you sign up to a Vodafone S22 plan:

  • Those trading in the S21 Ultra 512GB will receive $720 of trade in value, plus $600 bonus credit. That's $1,320 in savings.
  • Trading in the S10 or S20 FE 128GB could give you $300 trade-in value + $600 bonus credit. That's $900 in savings and means you could get the S22 base model for only $349.

Keep in mind that Vodafone's trade-in offers are set to end on 24 March.

For even more added value, you'll also receive a Samsung eVoucher of your choice of accessory pack.

Vodafone's S22 plans and prices

Even without the trade-in offer in play, Vodafone's phone plans are the cheapest by $5 to $15 a month if you stack its entry-level mobile plans against Telstra and Optus.

Remember, the handset repayment cost for the S22 remains the same across the board. All that changes is the price of the plan you choose to pair it with.

We've broken down the cost of Vodafone's S22 plans if you choose to get it with its cheapest plan – 40GB for $40 per month.

For the S22 128GB, you're looking at:

  • $74.69 a month over 36 months
  • $92.04 a month over 24 months
  • $144.08 a month over 12 months

For the S22+ 128GB, you're looking at:

  • $83.03 a month over 36 months
  • $104.54 a month over 24 months
  • $169.08 a month over 12 months

For the S22 Ultra 128GB, you're looking at:

  • $91.36 a month over 36 months
  • $117.04 a month over 24 months
  • $194.08 a month over 12 months

Is there a catch to Vodafone's deal?

There's no catch with Vodafone's trade-in promotion as long as you have an eligible phone in good working condition. That's going to be key to getting the biggest savings.

In case you don't have a handset to trade in, it might be worth paying a tad more per month and opting for an S22 phone plan from Telstra or Optus instead.

This will give you a bonus gift worth over $500 plus any additional perks that come with Telstra's or Optus's mobile plans.

What other cheap S22 plans are on offer?

If you do decide to check out the competition, Telstra and Optus have also got your S22 needs covered.
