Qantas Airways app updates for iOS

Manage your flights and Qantas Points, and receive personalised sale alerts on your iPhone with the updated Qantas Airways app.

Last week, Qantas launched a refreshed version of its Qantas Airways app for iOS. With a completely new interface, the Qantas app has undergone a user-friendly redesign that makes it much easier for frequent flyers to manage their points and flights.

What can I do with the Qantas app?

Put your next flight and rewards at your fingertips with the Qantas app for your iPhone:

  • Notifications about your flights
  • Driving directions to the airport
  • Check-in times
  • Check in and seat selection
  • Mobile boarding pass in the app
  • Lounge and gate information
  • Flight arrival and departure updates
  • Frequent Flyer login and Points balance
  • Quick view of all upcoming trips
  • Personalised sale alerts

As you swipe through the app, you can monitor your points balance, view your upcoming trips and compare the latest offers (to name just a few of the features). If you already have the Qantas app on your phone, you should have been prompted with an upgrade in your app store at the end of last week. The app has been optimised for iPhone 6S, 6s Plus and iPads.

While the Qantas app update offers a lot of useful ways to manage your flights, trips to the airport and Qantas Points on the go, it does have some shortcomings. For example, while you can use the app to check your points balance, you can’t use it to view your points or status credits transaction history. This means that you’re unable to see when and where your points have come from. This is particularly inconvenient if points have been credited to your account, but you’re unable to confirm where they’re from.

Last week, Qantas also announced that the Qantas Assure app will undergo some improvements this year. Following the launch of the Qantas Assure promotion that lets you earn points for being active in March, Qantas has confirmed that the app (where you track your activity and earn points), will be available for Android this June. Currently only for iPhone, once you’ve signed up for Qantas Assure health insurance and downloaded the app, you can monitor your steps through a wearable device (such as a Fitbit or Apple Watch) and you’ll earn rewards points as you remain active.
