What does Huddle home insurance include?

Huddle home insurance offers 3 different policies: combined home and contents insurance, home only insurance and contents only insurance.

All policies come with a basic excess and additional earthquake or flood excess, plus a cooling off period of 14 days, which is slightly shorter than the standard (21 days). You can cancel your policy within this timeframe for a full refund, so long as you haven't made any claims.

Huddle Black comes with features you're unlikely to find elsewhere including emergency pet accommodation, environmental upgrades if your home needs to be rebuilt and up to $2,000 for electrical motor burnout.

Huddle home insurance complaints

We looked at home insurance complaint data from the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) between July 2022 and June 2023.

The data explores different underwriters and compares their business size to the number of complaints processed.

Hollard, which underwrites Huddle home insurance, received 1,113 home building insurance complaints. This may seem like a lot but it's better than 3 other very large insurers AAI Limited, Insurance Australia Limited and Allianz.

When comparing insurers, keep in mind that insurers with a larger market share serve more customers, so can potentially get more complaints.

Huddle reviews and customer satisfaction ratings

Huddle doesn't have many reviews left by customers online. However, those that have left reviews are generally positive.

Huddle receive enough votes to be eligible. These are the national scores of the top 10 home insurers surveyed as part of our Home Insurance Customer Satisfaction awards. To get these ratings, we asked a total of 6,116 customers how they felt about their current home insurer.

Our expert says

"Huddle home insurance is good if you want a very comprehensive insurer. Huddle Black provides more extensive cover than most of the insurers on the market. If you're simply looking for the biggest available sign-up discount, you might want to look elsewhere."
