Earn KrisFlyer Miles on:
Signing up for KrisFlyer Frequent Flyer membership is free via the Singapore Airlines website.
You'll need to provide your full name, date of birth, contact details and mailing address. You'll also be required to create a 6-digit PIN and fill out a security question for login purposes.
Once you've joined, you'll receive your KrisFlyer membership number which you'll need to have whenever you want to earn points on flights or other transactions.
You'll need to be aged 16 or above to join but parents and guardians can sign up children from age 2 and up.
"The most annoying aspect of Krisflyer is that your points expire 3 years after you earned them - so you'll often end up using them on a lower-value redemption like shopping. If you're regularly flying to Singapore, it's a decent scheme, but for most Australians your options with Qantas or Velocity will be better."

You can redeem your KrisFlyer Miles for award flights with Singapore Airlines and SilkAir. The number of Miles you’ll need in order to redeem a flight reward will depend on your destination and cabin class. For example, you’ll need 28,000 Miles for a one-way Economy Saver Award Ticket from Sydeny to Singapore but 62,000 Miles to redeem a Business Saver Award Ticket for the same flight.

Whether you want to redeem spa and dining vouchers, free accommodation or upgrades for an existing booking at the Shangri-La, you can exchange your KrisFlyer Miles for Shangri-La Golden Circle points.

If I transfer points from Velocity to KrisFlyer would that be counted to move up to Silver or Gold on Krisflyer? How many points are required at each level?

The answer to your question is yes as long as you have the eligible number of points. Please note that When you transfer points between Velocity and KrisFlyer, the point exchange rate is 1.55 to 1. This means a minimum transfer of 5,000 points will give you 3,226 points with the other program (rounded to the nearest whole point).

Regarding the points, you need 25,000 Elite miles to reach Elite Silver status. Your membership will last for 12 months.

My husband and myself have been Krisflyer members since 2008. We fly to Europe with Singapore Airlines at least once per year. Our travel office should have entered our membership nos. into all bookings, and we assumed this was done. However they did not and as it appeared that we had not booked flights for some time our membership was cancelled this year. Can we be reinstated or must we rejoin?

Thank you for your inquiry.
Unfortunately, since Qantas and Singapore Airlines are not partners, you cannot use your Qantas points to redeem for flight tickets with Singapore Airlines and also your friend’s KrisFlyer points/miles cannot be redeemed for flights with Qantas. Basically, frequent flyers points can only be redeemed for flight tickets with another airline if it happens to be a ‘partner airline’ of your chosen flight provider.

Unfortunately, Qantas and Velocity points will not give you access to the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport and SilverKris Lounges worldwide. You can access these lounges if you have KrisFlyer Gold membership status.
