EXCLUSIVE: When will email notifications for reward seats from Qantas be returning?

One of the trickier parts of being a frequent flyer is finding reward seats.

And one of the easiest ways to do that was with Qantas' Dream Planner.

Launched in mid-2020, Dream Planner allowed you to set up email alerts for Classic Reward flights for specific destinations and dates.

Unfortunately, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on flight availability meant that feature was soon mothballed.

While the Dream Planner section of Qantas' site is still live, it doesn't have any features for saving specific destinations or setting up alerts.

"Email notifications are currently paused and will commence again with regular flight services," Qantas' own help site notes.

Arguably, regular flight services are largely back, so that does that mean Dream Planner will it be returning?

Unfortunately, according to Qantas, it won't be happening for a while.

"There isn't a definitive timeline on Dream Planner at this stage," a Qantas spokesperson told Finder.

Until that happens, the simplest solution is just to regularly do searches on routes you're interested in.

If you want to track reward seats more aggressively, paid services such as Expert Flyer can be helpful.

With the recent return of First seats to Europe and Singapore and new Qantas destinations, I'm hoping we do get Dream Planner back sooner rather than later.

Hey, a person can dream, can't they?
