Apple Qantas Points sale: Our pick of the top buys
Got frequent flyer points to spare? A new iPhone might be calling you.
Right now, the Qantas Rewards Store has 20% off the Qantas Points needed to buy all Apple products, including iPhones, Apple Watches, AirPods and iPads.
The promotion runs until 11:59pm on Tuesday 12 July and applies to almost everything Apple offers in its Qantas Rewards store. (There's one exception, which we'll get to.)
As an example, the iPhone 13 Pro Max Green can be had for 257,240 Qantas Points, down from the usual 321,560. If you bought that phone outright, you'd pay $1,849.
I measure the worth of points as the dollar value you get for every 1,000 you spend. With the 20% discount applied, each 1,000 Qantas Points you spend is worth $7.19.
So would I use my points this way? Well, no, frankly.
Spending your Qantas Points on flights or upgrades squeezes the most value out of them, and so that's what I always do (and recommend).
Taking that approach, I aim to get $20 or more in value from every 1,000 points I spend.
But not everyone has the same points goals I do.
If you are keen to use your Qantas Points for a new iPhone or Apple Watch, it makes sense to do it when you don't have to spend quite so many points.

The one Apple product that isn't scoring the 20% off is an Apple digital gift card.

If I wanted Apple gift cards, I'd probably wait until Woolworths was selling them with bonus points, and earn more Qantas Points that way. Again, your mileage could differ.
