Dodo is a well-rounded NBN provider offering unlimited data internet plans across the majority of speed tiers available, from NBN 25 right up to NBN 1000.
Its biggest drawcard is value. It often runs 6-12 month introductory discounts, with competitive ongoing pricing that keeps it among the more affordable options.
That's a big reason it won Best Everyday Use NBN Provider and Best Fast Speeds NBN Provider at the 2025 Finder Broadband Awards.
It was also highly commended in Best Budget NBN Provider and Best Superfast Speeds NBN Provider.
Performance-wise, Dodo fares reasonably well, even during the busiest times of the day when most people are online.
It's not the absolute fastest, but it reliably delivers the speeds it advertises.
Pros
Frequent introductory discounts
$5 a month bundling discount on mobile and internet plans
Option to bring your own modem or spread the cost over 24 months if you don't want to pay upfront
No lock-in contracts
Cons
Doesn't offer the fastest NBN speed tier (NBN 2000)
You can only pay via direct debit
Compare Dodo's fixed-line NBN plans
These plans are available in most NBN-covered areas, though speeds faster than NBN 100 require an FTTP or HFC connection. Entering your address on Dodo's website will show you which plans are available with your connection type.
We currently don't have that product, but here are others to consider:

Dodo offers fixed wireless NBN plans for regional and rural areas where a standard fixed-line connection isn't available.

How we picked these
What features are included with Dodo's NBN plans?
Dodo doesn't offer many bells and whistles, but it does have simple perks like bundling discounts and flexible modem options.
Bundling discounts
You can save $5 a month by bundling your Dodo NBN plan with one of its mobile plans.
In NSW and Victoria, there's an extra $10 monthly discount for bundling energy services, though online sign-ups aren't currently available.
Modem options
Dodo gives you the choice to bring your own modem or purchase one through them.
Its 'Family Modem' costs $169.90 upfront or $7.50 a month over 24 months.
It comes pre-configured for easy setup and supports high-speed plans. If you already have a compatible modem, you can skip this cost entirely.
How does Dodo rate for performance?
Here's how Dodo performs across different plans, including what to expect during the busy evening period.
Advertised typical evening speeds
While Dodo advertises that its NBN 25, 50, and 100 plans can hit full speeds during the busy 7pm-11pm evening period, the higher-speed plans simply deliver slightly less than the maximum for their tiers.
For example, the Superfast (NBN 750) and Ultrafast (NBN 1000) plans typically reach around 700Mbps and 840Mbps in the evening.
Actual speeds vs advertised
Dodo generally delivers internet speeds close to what it advertises.
It shows that Dodo generally performs close to advertised speeds, though some providers are faster during peak times.
During the busiest evening hours (7-11pm), its download speeds can sometimes fall a little short of the advertised maximum, usually only by a few percentage points.
For most households, this won't noticeably affect streaming, browsing, or video calls.
Upload speeds follow a similar pattern - slightly below the ideal at times, but sufficient for sending files, video calls, and general use.
How does Dodo rate for customer service?
Dodo's customer service is available 7 days a week, from 9am to 9pm AEST, via phone, live chat, email, and social media.
You can also manage your plan, billing, and support requests through the My Dodo online portal or app, which makes handling most account-related tasks quick and easy.
In Finder's 2025 Customer Satisfaction Awards, Dodo scored:
3.95/5 for overall satisfaction (above the average of 3.93)
4.22/5 for trust (above the average of 4.08)
3.84/5 for customer service (below the average of 3.93)
These results suggest that while customers are generally happy with Dodo and trust the brand, there's some room for improvement in support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Dodo supports BYO modems as long as they are compatible with your NBN connection type and speed tier. You'll need to configure it yourself, but Dodo provides setup guides on its website.
No, Dodo no longer offers home phone services for new customers. If you require a landline, you'll need to consider a different provider or use VoIP services separately.
Connection times vary depending on your address and whether you're switching from another provider. If your home is already NBN-ready and you have a compatible modem, activation can take as little as 1 hour. On average, it may take 1-10 business days.
You can nominate a connection date during the sign-up process or contact Dodo to arrange a move. Keep in mind that moving may affect your eligibility for promotional pricing or require a new connection setup.
Yes, especially on higher-tier plans like NBN 100, NBN 500, NBN 750 and NBN 1000. These plans offer enough bandwidth for smooth 4K streaming and low-latency gaming, provided your home setup and connection type support it.
Yes, Dodo uses Carrier-Grade NAT (CG-NAT) to manage its IP address pool. This may affect users who need a public IP address for things like remote access, hosting servers or certain smart home setups. Most users won't notice any difference.

Hi Steff,
Thanks for your question.
Please note that you’ve come through to finder.com.au we are an Australian financial comparison website and general information service, not actually Dodo.
For the Dodo ADSL2 + Unlimited Regional plan, the base amount is $59.90 but you will also need to pay for the monthly home phone line which is $29.90, so that makes the total amount of your monthly subscription to $89.80 for the plan.
Cheers,
May

Hello. I’m a new dodo customer. Just signed up with them with NBN and lucky me I have it now activated with the help of dodos responsible technician. Its just within 1 week or after and Im all set. Just wondering about the Dodo fetch tv. I know Dodo is designed for budget conscious people but why there is one time activation fee included on each TV? I want my 4 tvs to get the fetch service but it would be 4 times for the one time activation.
ChesterAugust 9, 2016
Hello Megan.
Thanks for your question.
The reason why an activation fee is required, DoDo will provide you a fetch TV box with every activation request made. That way you will have a clear signal whenever you will be using the fetch TV box.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!

Hi Eva,
You’ve come through to finder.com.au. I would recommend contacting Dodo directly with any installation queries.
Skip the upfront costs with an internet plan that includes zero setup fees. Bring your own modem or snag one for $0 with some providers by staying connected for a set time.
Looking for a contract-free NBN plan that lets you switch anytime? We’ve curated all available options - just choose the speed and price that work for you.
Exetel offers a single plan with extra perks and reliable performance, according to the ACCC.

Finder is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stand by our editorial principles.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.

Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product.
