amaysim 2GB prepaid plan now has unlimited calls and texts

$29.90 plan boosts its calling allowance.

amaysim has updated its $29.90 UNLIMITED 2GB plan, switching from offering 500 minutes of calls to Australian numbers per month to offering unlimited calls to Australian numbers. The plan continues to include unlimited text, but the name has switched from UNLIMITED TEXT 2GB since calls are now part of that bucket as well.

From 1 September 2015, existing customers on the plan will be automatically migrated when their plan rolls over. 2GB of data doesn't go terribly far, and we suspect most smartphone users considering amaysim would do better on the $44.90 5GB plan. However, if you know you don't regularly consume much data but do make frequent calls, the $29.90 plan may be a more appealing option.

There has been a clear trend towards offering unlimited calls and texts to Australian numbers across prepaid plans in recent months. Both Vodafone and Optus now take that approach across all plans. Telstra remains the biggest player to work on a "call credit" approach, but even it now offers unlimited texts on most prepaid plans.
