Vodafone wants to know if you want its NBN broadband

Vodafone is now open to expressions of interest in its upcoming broadband product, but there's no sign of pricing or plans just yet.

Vodafone is still some months away from actually releasing a broadband service over the National Broadband Network to customers, but it has today opened up what it’s calling "expressions of interest" from any customer keen to get a broadband product through Vodafone.

If you’re particularly keen, you can head over to Vodafone’s signup page. It’s not a contractual obligation per se, and while NBN connections do take some time to organise, it’s worth noting that Vodafone is seeking a fair amount of personal data for an expression of interest, including your existing Vodafone contract status, full street address and optionally your existing provider.

The NBN was always meant to open up competition to new providers, and Vodafone first signalled that it would launch NBN packages "by the end of 2017" last year. Vodafone has no plans for ADSL services, but it does already offer mobile broadband products.

Vodafone has been quite coy about what it will charge for its NBN plans when asked previously, but it’s assumed that it will go for some kind of bundling play with its existing mobile telephony products in Australia. Research suggests that Vodafone could grab a large quantity of its existing mobile customer base away from other existing ISPs, presuming its deals are compelling enough.
