amaysim mobile broadband plans compared January 2019

Matt Sayer 1 September 2017 NEWS

amaysim offers data-only mobile broadband plans powered by Optus' 4G Plus network.

What you need to know about amaysim's mobile broadband plans

Delivered over Optus' 4G Plus network, amaysim's mobile broadband plans provide a wireless Internet solution for tablets, Wi-Fi modems and other SIM-compatible devices without the need to pay for the calls and texts included on a regular mobile plan.

While amaysim doesn't offer any hardware bundles with its mobile broadband plans, it does offer all its plans on no-lock-in contracts, so you can cancel your service at any time without having to pay an early termination fee.

What are the different amaysim mobile broadband plans?

amaysim offers four mobile broadband plans which are identical save for their monthly data limits. These start at 2GB and go up to 6GB, 50GB and 70GB of data a month. Each plan comes with a 28-day expiry, with the option to have it automatically renew on a prepaid or postpaid basis.

How much do amaysim's mobile broadband plans cost?

For amaysim's 2GB mobile broadband plan, you'll be looking at $15 a month. For 6GB of data, the cost goes up to $35 a month, while 50GB will set you back $65 a month and 70GB will cost you $80 a month.

If you exceed your monthly data limit on any of amaysim's mobile broadband plans, you'll either be automatically charged $10 for every 1GB you use over your limit if you've signed up for a postpaid plan, or you'll have the option to purchase additional data at the same price if you're on a pre-paid plan.

One thing you'll want to be aware of with amaysim's mobile broadband plans is the auto-renewal policy. By default, amaysim will automatically charge you for the next month at the end of every month, so you'll need to change this in your amaysim account settings if you don't want to be billed on an ongoing basis.

      Hi Robbie,

Thanks for your question. Most modems provided as part of your broadband plan are not locked to the provider, and as such can be used on other networks. Depending on the particular model of modem you received from Telstra, you should be able to simply change the connection details on your modem’s configuration page from Telstra’s to Belong’s for the modem to continue working.

That said, if your modem is a Telstra-branded one like the Telstra Gateway, you may encounter difficulties or performance issues using it on Belong’s network. If it’s a non-Telstra-branded modem, however, you should be fine.

I hope this helps answer your question.
