If you want a handset and the near ubiquity of Telstra's network, Go Mobile is a good plan choice.

Telstra's Go Mobile plans are typically paired with a smartphone. The full price you'll pay depend on your smartphone aspirations, with higher end devices attracting a larger monthly co-payment. Use the selector below to find out more about each plan.

  • Data sharing. If you have multiple Go Mobile accounts you can pool up the data inclusions across devices, which could be a good budget bottom line move, as long as everyone shares fairly.
  • Premium has all the trimmings: The Premium plan includes allowances for international calling and data, as well as Telstra's "New Phone Feeling" plan, which lets you swap out your phone for a new one after 12 months. It also includes a Data Share SIM for a secondary device.
  • Full 4GX Network.Telstra's 700MHz "4GX" network provides some of the fastest speeds you'll see on any mobile network in Australia, network conditions permitting. If you've got a fast enough device, it can really rocket on Telstra's network.
  • Good for footy fanatics.Telstra's deals with both the AFL and NRL mean that Telstra contract customers can access either an NRL or AFL season pass for viewing games on their mobile devices at no extra charge.
  • Access to Telstra Air.Until mid-2016, access to Telstra Air is unlimited for all customers, but after 30 June, you'll still get 10GB of data allowance on Telstra's public Wi-Fi network as part of your contract deal.
  • New Phone Feeling Option.Telstra offers the option to upgrade to a new handset after only 12 months if you recontract for another two years.
  • Solid regional coverage.Telstra has long been the choice for regional mobile users, because often it's been the only choice. If you travel to regional or remote areas it's often ahead of the competition in terms of coverage, especially for 4G services.

  • Confusing "value" pricing. In the contract world, Telstra's the only of the big three that isn't offering unlimited calls and texts across all plans -- you have to calculate them from an assigned amount if you're on the lower tier plans.
  • Less generous data allowances. Telstra offers less data for your dollar than its rivals.
  • Premium pricing. Telstra pitches itself as a premium network and prices accordingly, which means in a direct comparison it is often the most expensive option.
  • New Phone feeling limitations. Telstra sometimes waives the New Phone Feeling charge on some plans, but not always. Moreover, you've got to hand over your existing handset in "good" condition, so in some circumstances you could pay the fee but reap no new phone benefit.

Who this plan would suit

Telstra's coverage is still the widest in the country for 4G LTE services, so there's strong appeal in these plans for any regional phone users. The Premium service is pricey, but if you're a regular traveller after the best possible premium phone, there are a lot of additional goodies on offer there.
