Here’s the cheapest way to buy a PS5 from Vodafone

Keen to get your hands on the new PlayStation 5 before Christmas? Vodafone has got you covered.

As of today, Vodafone customers with 2 or more eligible services will be able to purchase a PlayStation 5 (PS5) on a 12-, 24- or 36-month interest-free repayment plan while stocks last. Eligible services are $30 or higher postpaid mobile, tablet and NBN services that qualify for its Bundle and Save discounts.

Vodafone is selling both versions of the PS5: the Digital Edition, with no disc slot, retailing at $599.95 and the standard console, retailing at $749.95. Customers can also pick up a DualSense Wireless Controller or the Media Remote as part of the bundle for an added price.

Once you're an eligible customer, you'll be able to get your PS5 from a Vodafone store by appointment starting 15 December, which is just before Christmas.

With these high prices, being able to pay for the PS5 in instalments can make its price tag far more manageable. Here's what you can expect to pay in your monthly repayments for the PS5:

  • PS5 over 12 months - around $62 per month
  • PS5 over 24 months - around $31 per month
  • PS5 over 36 months - around $21 per month

With PS5 stocks running out everywhere, Vodafone's offering you an alternative way to get your hands on one as soon as possible, and it won't actually cost you too much extra.

What's the cheapest way?

If you're looking to hop on Vodafone to take advantage of this deal, the cheapest way is to buy a couple of its postpaid mobile plans.

Vodafone's cheapest mobile plan is currently discounted to $35 per month (for the first 12 months) until the end of November. If you're actually looking to switch to a new mobile plan, then we'd recommend staying on Vodafone's plan for the first year to make the most of the plan discount. That will put your total monthly bill ($70 for the two mobile plans plus the PS5 repayment) at $132.50 for the regular PS5 or $120 for the digital edition.

Otherwise, Vodafone gives you the flexibility to cancel plans whenever you want. When you cancel, you'll have to pay off the full remaining value of the PS5.

Since prepaid plans aren't eligible, you're most likely looking at Vodafone's SIM only plans, which range from $35 to $100 per month (on discount) and offer between 50GB and 150GB of data.

Check out Vodafone's SIM only plans and choose one that best suits your needs. All Vodafone SIM only plans come without a contract, so you can leave at any time.

What other Vodafone plans can I get?

If you aren't a fan of Vodafone's postpaid mobile options, you can pick up a couple of postpaid Vodafone mobile broadband or NBN plans to be eligible for the PS5 order. Keep in mind that mobile broadband will only be useful to you if you have an extra phone or tablet to use it with.

Alternatively, you could consider adding on a Vodafone NBN plan to your existing Vodafone service, but that's a much bigger cost decision, adding on at least an extra $65 per month to your bill for an NBN 25 plan. Consider carefully whether it's worth it.
