What services does Southern Phone offer?
Southern Phone broadband offers NBN, ADSL and ADSL2+ plans as well as home phone, mobile phone and mobile broadband services. Southern Phone also offers various bundling options including home phone, mobile and broadband packages as well as some neat optional bonuses like an Xbox One or 7-inch Samsung Galaxy tablet.
How much does Southern Phone cost?
All Southern Phone NBN plans and bundles are sold under 24-month contracts. In addition to a monthly access fee, customers are also required to pay a $59 setup fee.
There are also costs involved with increasing the speed of your NBN connection. Each additional speed tier costs an extra $10 on top of your monthly access fee. There is also a one-off fee of $35 each time you change speed tiers.
ADSL and ADSL2+ plans can be purchased on a month-to-month basis or on a 24-month contract. If you select a month-to-month plan, you will be charged a $89 setup fee. However, if you commit to a 24-month contract your setup fee will be $59.
Adding a home phone to your broadband package will cost an additional $29.95 per month on ADSL plans and an extra $15 per month on NBN plans. However, NBN and home phone bundles come with unlimited local and national calls included, whereas calls on a standard ADSL bundle are charged at 35c per minute to mobiles and 18c per minute for national calls (plus a 42c connection fee).
A D-Link Wi-Fi modem is included with all plans but incurs a $14.95 fee for delivery of the device.

You have the choice to bundle mobile and home phone services with both ADSL and NBN plans. Bundled NBN plans come with unlimited local and national calls, whereas ADSL bundles come with no included calls and charge at a rate of 35c per minute to mobiles and 18c per minute for national calls (plus a 42c connection fee). You can opt for an ADSL and home phone Lite bundle, which give you $29 worth of included call credit to use from your home phone.
Southern Phone also offers mobile phone bundles with their ADSL plans. The ADSL Family Broadband and Mobile Phone plan come with a $0 handset, $100 call credit and "Family calls". Standard calls to mobiles and national fixed lines from the bundled mobile cost 50c per 30 seconds (charged in 30-second increments) with a 39c connection fee ($2.39 for a 2-minute standard call). However, if the receiving number is under the same Southern Phone account, this is considered a family call and will only be charged at 1c per minute. This also applies to a bundled home phone.
SMS from the included mobile cost 25c. Sending an MMS costs 77c for a standard MMS and 99c for video.
You can also access mobile data from your data if necessary. This will be charged at 50c per MB.
ADSL and ADSL2+ speeds vary, but you can expect approximately 20Mbps, 8Mbps or 1.5Mbps depending on your local exchange. Southern Phone will connect you to the fastest available speed available at the exchange.What happens if I exceed my monthly download limit?
If you exceed your monthly data allowance on ADSL and NBN you will not be charged excess fees. However, your services will be restricted to 64k/64k until the end of your billing period.
