How the Finder Score helps you find a better broadband plan

We designed the Finder Score to simplify your search for the best NBN and Home Wireless plans. By analysing hundreds of options from 40+ providers, we evaluate pricing, speeds, data allowances and plan features. Each factor is weighted and combined to generate a score out of 10 — helping you quickly spot the most competitive plans on the market. Read the full breakdown.

What is 5G home internet?

5G home internet uses a mobile network to connect you to the internet. So if your phone gets good reception and your address is covered by 5G, it's actually a good option to consider.

In fact, 5G home internet is what's come to be known as an alternative to the NBN. There are no wires, either copper or fibre-optical cable and no installation required as such.

All you have to do is plug in the modem supplied by the provider, pop in a SIM card into the modem itself and voila, you're online!

What's 5G home internet good for?

An Everyday 5G Home Internet plan is:

  • Ideal for 1-3 people.
  • Stream Netflix, Disney+ and YouTube in HD or 4K.
  • Browse the web, use social media and make video calls.
  • Suitable for working from home and connecting smart home devices.
  • Comparable to a typical NBN 50 plan.
  • Great for smaller households with moderate internet use.

An Everyday Fast 5G Home Internet plan is:

  • Ideal for families of 3-5 people.
  • Supports multiple 4K streams at the same time.
  • Handles several people working or studying from home simultaneously.
  • Faster downloads for games, apps and large files.
  • Better equipped to manage busy households with lots of connected devices.
  • Offers extra capacity so one person's heavy internet use is less likely to affect everyone else.

Superfast 5G Home Internet is:

  • Ideal for larger households and heavy internet users.
  • Supports multiple 4K streams across several TVs and devices.
  • Great for online gaming, content creation and large file uploads.
  • Delivers much faster downloads and cloud backups.
  • Well suited to homes with many connected devices.
  • Provides premium performance for households that rely heavily on fast, reliable internet.
