Finder Score for pet insurance
We designed Finder Score to make comparing pet insurance easier, assessing more than 20 products for their price and features. Finder Score assigns each product a score out of 10.
With dog insurance from $14.66 and cat insurance from $11.16 a fortnight, CoverMy Pet is designed to keep premiums manageable without cutting corners on the essentials.
Choose between $2,000, $4,000 or $8,000 in annual vet fee cover, depending on your pet's needs and your budget.
All three plans reimburse up to 85% of eligible vet costs, so you're not left carrying the full bill after an unexpected trip to the vet.
Once you're covered, your pet won't be excluded from an ongoing condition just because they've claimed for it before.
CoverMy Pet can pay your vet directly, so you don't need to pay the full invoice upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
Policies are administered by Petplan Australasia, giving CoverMy Pet a depth of industry knowledge that newer insurers can't match.
What's not covered?
As a vet fee-only policy, there are some notable exclusions:
Routine and preventative care — This includes things like vaccinations, desexing, microchipping, teeth cleaning, heartworm prevention and health checks.
Pre-existing conditions — This refers to conditions your pet had before the policy started (or during the waiting period) are excluded.
Dental illness — Dental disease is typically excluded unless it results from an accident.
Breeding costs — These are treatments related to pregnancy or breeding.
Elective procedures — This refers to treatments that aren't deemed medically necessary by a vet.
Keep in mind, these are just some of the exclusions. For a full list, please read the CoverMy Pet PDS.
How to make a claim with CoverMy Pet
CoverMy Pet accepts claims online through its website. You'll need:
Your policy number
A copy of the vet invoice
Your vet's consultation notes (for illness claims)
Claims can also be paid directly to your vet where eligible. Contact CoverMy Pet on 1300 894 464 if you need assistance during the claims process.
Frequently asked questions
Vet fee-only insurance covers the cost of vet treatment if your pet gets sick or injured. It doesn't include routine care like vaccinations or preventative treatments. CoverMy Pet's policies fall into this category, making them a more affordable option for pet owners who don't need extras.
No. Like most pet insurers, CoverMy Pet does not cover pre-existing conditions. These are health issues your pet had before the policy started or during the waiting period. This is standard across the industry, so it's worth insuring your pet while they're young and healthy.
Most vet fee-only policies allow you to visit any registered, licensed vet in Australia. However, check the PDS to confirm this applies to your plan before booking treatment.
Dental illness is generally excluded with CoverMy Pet. Dental injuries caused by an accident may be covered.
You can get a quote online at covermy.au or by calling 1300 894 464. You'll need your pet's species, breed, age and postcode.
If you're looking for basic, affordable protection against unexpected vet bills and don't need extras like routine care or dental cover, CoverMy Pet offers a competitive price point with lifetime cover included. However, the $8,000 maximum annual benefit is lower than some other providers, so it may not be sufficient for pets that are high-risk breeds or prone to expensive ongoing conditions.

Important information about this website
Finder makes money from featured partners, but editorial opinions are our own.
Finder is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stand by our editorial principles.
We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.
Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.
We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.
Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.
Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product.
When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.
Please read our website terms of use and privacy policy for more information about our services and our approach to privacy.
We update our data regularly, but information can change between updates. Confirm details with the provider you're interested in before making a decision.
