Optus is giving you $500 off a new iPhone, Samsung or Google Pixel

Your latest phone upgrade could be a whole lot cheaper if you sign up to an Optus mobile plan through Officeworks.

Optus's latest partnership with Officeworks will give you up to $500 off a new phone if you purchase it outright – whether you fancy the iPhone 13, Samsung Galaxy S21, Google Pixel 6 or the more budget-friendly Oppo.

All you have to do is sign up online to an exclusive Optus SIM plan via Officeworks.

You will need to purchase the device outright and stay connected to an Optus mobile plan for 12–24 months.

Here's a quick run-down of the discounts available to you, and how to maximise on the savings.

Save up to $500 with Optus 24-month mobile plans

Signing up to an Optus mobile plan through Officeworks for 24 months could save you $400–$500 on your new phone.

  • Pay $89 a month for 200GB – Save $500 on your phone
  • Pay $69 a month for 100GB – Save $400 on your phone

Remember, you can buy any phone outright at Officeworks as long as it's in stock. We've got our eye on the newly released Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. With this discount, your phone is essentially half the price.

Save up to $400 with Optus 12-month mobile plans

The savings on Optus's 12-month mobile plans are slightly lower, but the silver lining is you can switch providers in a shorter time frame.

  • Pay $89 a month for 200GB – Save $400 on your phone
  • Pay $69 a month for 100GB – Save $300 on your phone
  • Pay $49 a month for 40GB – Save $100 on your phone

What do you get with an Optus mobile plan?

There's a bunch of reasons to sign up to an Optus mobile plan, such as:

  • Access to its 5G network on $69 plans and above
  • Endless data – your speeds will be capped at 1.5Mbps once you've used up your data allowance
  • Optus Sport and OS Fitness subscriptions included

Are these a better deal than Optus's regular range of plans?

Without taking any active promotions into account, Optus's cheapest mobile plan costs $45 for 20GB.

Through Officeworks, you're paying a bit more at $49 but for 40GB. This is a neat offer if you're hungry for data.

The $69 for 100GB and $89 for 200GB offers through Officeworks are comparable to Optus's medium and large choice plans:

  • $55 a month for 80GB
  • $65 a month for 200GB

The only mobile plan that raises an eyebrow is the $89 for 200GB offer.

It's $24 a month more expensive and may only be worth signing up to if you want a big discount on your phone outright and don't mind paying more on your mobile plan for 24 months.

The bottom line

At the end of the day, the deal from Optus and Officeworks will work best for people who want to buy a phone outright for a cheaper price and don't mind getting on a slightly higher-priced mobile plan for 12–24 months.
