The ANZ Low Rate Credit Card offered a long 0% balance transfer period of up to 30 months throughout the year. It also offered a $0 annual fee in the first year and a low $58 annual fee after that – plus a purchase rate of 12.49% p.a.


The Bankwest Breeze Platinum Mastercard offers 0% foreign transaction fees when shopping internationally - both overseas and online. It also offers complimentary international travel insurance, a low interest rate for purchases and no annual fee in the first year.


The ANZ Frequent Flyer Black had big bonus Qantas Points and cashback offers throughout the year, with ongoing perks including Qantas Club Lounge Passes and complimentary travel insurance. It also earns 1 Qantas Point per $1, with a relatively high spending cap of $7,500 per statement period, plus an extra point per $1 for eligible spending with the airline.


The American Express Velocity Platinum Card has the highest Velocity Points earn rate in Australia at 1.25 points per $1 spent. It also offers bonus Velocity Points, a complimentary annual domestic flight, airport lounge passes and complimentary insurance.


The American Express Low Rate Credit Card offers a very low purchase interest rate of 8.99% p.a. It also set itself apart with an ongoing $0 annual fee.


The American Express Low Rate Credit Card offers the rare combination of an ongoing $0 annual fee and a competitively low rate of 8.99% p.a. on purchases. It also offers up to 4 free additional cardholders.


The Coles Rewards Mastercard offers a high earn rate 2 points per $1 spent for the first $3,000 in a statement period and 1 point per $1 after that. Its $99 annual fee is very competitive among rewards cards – and it's also had bonus point offers throughout the year.

Our team of expert analysts use an objective rating system to determine our award winners.

  • We include all of the personal credit cards in our database - which contains every credit card we can find online
  • We compare each card's credentials with all other cards which are live in the market each month, and combine those scores over the full 12 months to calculate a final score.
  • We exclude any credit cards that are only available to a certain subset of customers based on bank patronage or location
