Officeworks bonus: Earn even more Flybuys/Velocity Points

Don't miss this Flybuys gift card hack for 1,000 bonus Virgin points.

You can already earn Flybuys points at Officeworks, but this week you can earn a lot more.

From Wednesday 17 August until Tuesday 23 August 2022, if you buy an Officeworks gift card at Coles, you'll get 2,000 bonus Flybuys points.

This week's Coles catalogue shows details of the Officeworks Flybuys bonus point deal.

The best way to maximise the value of those Flybuys points is to convert them to Velocity Points (we've got a step-by-step guide explaining why that is and how to do it).

Unfortunately, you can't stack this offer and purchase multiple cards. There's a limit of 1 bonus 2,000 Flybuys points per account.

To qualify, you need to add at least $100 to the card. You don't get extra Flybuys points for higher values, so I'd recommend just going with $100.

Despite those minor restrictions, 1,000 Velocity Points is nothing to sneeze at, and you can hang onto the gift card until you need to actually buy something from Officeworks.

Can I earn more Flybuys points at Officeworks?

Experienced points collectors will know that purchases at Officeworks earn Flybuys points, at a rate of 1 point per $1 spent.

That should mean that when you spend that $100 gift card, you'll earn another 100 Flybuys points.

Officeworks' conditions for Flybuys specify that you don't earn points if you purchase gift cards (which is the usual rule at most retailers).

However, those rules don't say anything about not earning Flybuys points when you use Officeworks gift cards as a payment method. I'm going to put this to the test and will update once I've tried this.

Officeworks rejoined Flybuys last December, after having stopped offering Flybuys points back in 2009. (Hardware giant Bunnings also added Flybuys at the same time. Both companies are owned by Wesfarmers, as is Coles.)
