How many Velocity Points can I buy?
You can use the Velocity Points Booster to buy between 1,000 and 250,000 Velocity Points per calendar year, with a maximum of 250,000 in any one transaction. You can purchase 1,000 to 30,000 points in 1,000 points increments, 30,000 to 50,000 points in 5,000 points increments and 50,000 to 250,000 points in 10,000 points increments.
Is it worth it to buy Velocity Points?
Depending on how you redeem it (business redemptions are better value than economy) 1 Velocity Point is worth between 0.4 cents and 4 cents. When you purchase points, they cost between 2.34c and 3.6c each (see below). So, it's not always great value to buy points, as you can end up spending more on the points than the value you gain when redeeming them.
Instead of buying points, it may be better value to apply for a credit card that earns Velocity Points and boost your balance this way.
