Earn up to triple Velocity Points on flights with Etihad and Virgin
Planning a trip to Europe or Abu Dhabi this year? Velocity will reward you with up to triple the rewards points if you book your flights through Etihad Airways.
Virgin Australia’s Velocity loyalty program is encouraging frequent flyers to take a holiday to Europe or Abu Dhabi with the promise of bonus points if you book your flights with Virgin or its partner Etihad Airways. If you plan to fly in Economy or Premium Economy, you’ll earn double points. High flyers in Business or First Class will earn triple Velocity Points on their trip to Europe or Abu Dhabi.

How can I get my Velocity bonus points?
If you’re interested in picking up bonus points on your next holiday, follow the simple steps below:
- Visit the Velocity website and activate the offer.
- Book any eligible Virgin Australia or Etihad Airways flight between Australia and Abu Dhabi or Europe by 27 May 2016 at 11.59pm.
- Travel between 2 June 2016 and 30 November 2016.
Your points should appear in your account within four weeks of your holiday.
Terms and conditions to remember
- Activating the offer. You’ll only receive the points if you activate the offer before you book your flights. Please note that each passenger you travel with needs to register for the offer separately if you want to earn points on their flights.
- Eligible flights. This offer is valid for flights VA29, VA30, VA7000-7289 and any Etihad Airways operated flight from Abu Dhabi to/from Frankfurt, Munich, London Heathrow, Manchester, Dusseldorf, Edinburgh, Paris, Geneva, Brussels, Moscow, Belgrade, Zurich, Madrid, Amsterdam, Milan, Rome, Athens, Larnaca, Istanbul, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. Etihad Airways operates the A380 aircraft on one of its two daily Abu Dhabi to Melbourne services (EY460/461).
- Domestic flights. Please note that domestic flights you need to take as part of an international journey are not included under the promotion. So if you need to travel from Perth to Sydney to catch your domestic flight, this route will not earn you the bonus points.
- Seats. You will only earn bonus points on the fare class you originally purchased, so upgrades won’t receive bonus points. Points also can’t be earned on Velocity Reward Seat bookings.
How many Velocity Points could I earn?
How many points you’ll earn will depend on the fare class you choose, the airline you fly with and the route you take will impact how many points you could earn. You can compare some of the possibilities below:

So, say you were flying Economy with Etihad Airlines from Sydney to Abu Dhabi, you would earn 7,506 points regularly. With the bonus points offer, you could triple this and earn 15,012 Velocity Points.
If you were flying Business from Sydney to Paris, you’d earn 39,406 (regularly 13,135) Velocity Points from the trip from Sydney to Abu Dhabi. You’d then pick up another 17,067.75 points (regularly 5,689) from there to Paris.

If you were flying with Virgin Australia in Flexible Economy from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi, you could regularly pick up 7,245 points. With the bonus offer, though, you’d pick up 14,490 Velocity Points.
Let’s say you’re travelling from Perth to London, while you’d regularly earn 14,490 Velocity Points, you’ll pick up 43,470 Velocity Points if you book before May 27.
You can use the mileage calculator on the Velocity website to determine how many miles your flight is, multiply that number by the earn rate to see how much you’d regularly earn and then multiply that number by three to see how many bonus points you’ll earn with the offer.
