Our Verdict

GIO's comprehensive policy covers the basics, plus a few extras. It's missing some common perks covered by other brands though, including key replacement.

Pros

  • Choice of repairer and trailer cover are included as standard on comprehensive policies
  • Get a 10% discount if you have at least three insurance policies with GIO
  • Get a hire car for Reasonable costs - Up to 21 days if your bike is stolen

Cons

  • GIO only covers motorbikes at Agreed or Market
value, with no option for agreed value
  • We found 19 policies that cover key replacement, but GIO doesn't.
  • Business use isn't covered, including food or parcel delivery.

What additional cover options are available?

GIO doesn't offer any additional cover options, you can only choose between the three standard policies - third party, third party fire and theft, and comprehensive.

However, you are able to adjust your excess. If you choose a higher excess, your policy premium will be cheaper. If you choose a lower excess, your premium will be more expensive.
