Does QBE motorcycle insurance take into consideration if the rider has taken safe rider classes, a discount is provided?
In QBE Australia motorcycle insurance, there is something called a “Rider Training Excess”. Under the excesses section, QBE says there is a $500 extra excess that applies when you are attending an approved rider training course. That means instead of reducing your costs, training classes may cause an extra excess in some cases. Is this true?
Hi Alex, thanks for getting in touch. In QBE’s PDS it states a 10% discount is available for customers who are a member of a motorcycle club approved by QBE, not safe rider classes. In regards to the “Rider Training Excess”, yes you are correct. If your bike is lost or damaged when being used in a QBE-approved rider training course, you will also need to pay an additional $500 excess along with the standard excess and any other applicable excess for the claim. I hope this helps.
