Flybuys partners with Bunnings and Officeworks: How many points can you earn?

Just how many Bunnings sausage sizzles will you have to eat to earn a free flight?
The Flybuys rewards program has officially partnered with 2 popular Aussie retailers, hardware giant Bunnings and office supplies chain Officeworks.
This means from today you can start swiping your Flybuys card to earn 1 point per $1 spent.
Now don't head off to grab your Bunnings sausage sizzle just yet, there are a few Ts and Cs to keep in mind.
How does it work?
Much like other program partners including Coles, earning points is as easy as swiping your card at the checkout or using the digital version on your smartphone.
You'll also earn 1 point per $1 at both Bunnings Warehouse and Officeworks but, like other program partners, not everything you buy will qualify for Flybuys points. Here's a closer look at the key details for these new partners:
- Officeworks. Collect points in-store and online. You won't be able to earn Flybuys on any of the following purchases: gift cards, print and copy cards, iTunes cards, mobile plans and recharge cards, donations or print and copy services.
- Bunnings Warehouse. Collect points in-store (sorry, not with online shopping for now). You won't be able to earn Flybuys points on gift cards, donations, services, Bunnings Marketplace purchases, and unfortunately your beloved sausage sizzle. Sorry to all the enthusiasts out there!
While Bunnings Warehouse isn't offering Flybuys Points for online shopping just yet it has said it's on the way for 2022.
"The purchases that don't earn Flybuys Points at Bunnings Warehouse and Officeworks are similar to other Flybuys partners and also other reward programs in Australia," Finder credit card expert Amy Bradney-George said.
"For example, you usually won't earn points when you buy gift cards with a rewards credit card or when you shop with a Woolworths Everyday Rewards partner. But the sausage sizzle exclusion is pretty unique to Bunnings, and shows why it's good to check the key details of when you will and won't earn points."
With these new Flybuys partnerships, you'll also be able to save on your Bunnings or Officeworks shop by redeeming your Flybuys points for Bunnings Warehouse and Officeworks gift cards at the Flybuys Rewards Store.
"It's an exciting day for Flybuys members across the country as they wake up to new opportunities to collect points at 2 of Australia's most iconic retailers in Bunnings Warehouse and Officeworks," Flybuys CEO John Merakovsky said in a media statement.
"As we all head out to do our Christmas shopping, refresh our home office or tidy up the backyard, it's great to know that by simply shopping at the stores you love and presenting your Flybuys card, you'll be collecting Flybuys points to use on a wide range of rewards or to save on your weekly grocery bill at Coles."
This is also great news for Velocity Frequent Flyers who benefit from the partnership with 2 new ways to earn more Flybuys points to convert to Velocity points.
What are some other ways of earning rewards points?
Bunnings and Officeworks join the ever-growing list of Flybuys partners including:
- Coles
- Kmart
- Target
- Liquorland
- Klarna
- Shell Coles Express
- HCF Health Insurance
The range of partners means you can earn Flybuys rewards points on just about anything from your grocery shop to your health insurance policy. Points are a great way to earn discounts, free flights and more in the background when making your regular purchases.
As well as earning points when you scan your Flybuys card (or enter the membership number online), a Coles credit card also means you can earn points for every $1 spent on all your eligible transactions you make with the card.
