Optus mobile customers can now benefit by earning Qantas Points every time they pay a mobile phone bill.
You simply need to link your Frequent Flyer account to your Optus Rewards account to get started. If you don’t already have an account, you can join up online through your Optus Rewards account, which will automatically waive the regular joining fee of $99.50 for you.
From there, you can start earning rewards just for using your mobile phone the same way you always have. After all, you’re going to pay your mobile bill anyway, so why not be rewarded for doing it? It makes it very easy to increase your Frequent Flyer balance quickly when you include bonus partners like Optus to your account.
Optus Rewards
Optus strives to ensure that all their customers get plenty of value for money with their mobile plans. However, they also work hard to reward their loyal customers with their Optus Rewards program.
Just for being an Optus customer, you could take advantage of Optus Movie Rewards. Simply join the Optus Rewards program (https://www.optus.com.au/optusrewards) and you can grab a $10 movie voucher for yourself. If you want, you might also choose to create an Optus Movie Gift Voucher for someone else. These can be redeemed at over 130 cinemas right across Australia, so there are plenty of choices.
The Optus Rewards program is also where you can link your Frequent Flyer account to earn more points just for spending money on Optus services.
Even if you already have an Optus My Account for viewing your bills and mobile phone usage online, you will still need to register for an Optus Rewards account. You can do this here:
https://www.optus.com.au/customercentre/qantasrewards/register/new
It only takes a couple of minutes to complete the registration and you will be sent a verification email that contains a link you need to click in order to activate your account. Once you’ve done this, you can grab your $10 movie vouchers and link up your Frequent Flyer account right away.

Overview of the Points System
Fly Away by Earning Points
If you’re an Optus mobile personal customer, you’ll be rewarded with 2 points for every dollar you spent on paying your mobile phone bill or other Optus services you receive or for recharging your Optus mobile prepaid account.
For business customers, points are awarded at 1 point per $1 spent on eligible Optus services.
Your points are usually credited and shown in your account around 30 days after you make a payment with Optus. Remember that your points are only processed after you make a payment on an eligible service. You don’t earn points on any late fees you pay or for any mobile handsets you purchase outright.
If you have a family member on the Optus network who doesn’t want to accumulate Frequent Flyer points, they can choose to delegate those points to you instead if they wish. They simply nominate your Qantas membership number into their Optus account instead of their own. This allows you to earn more points, when they pay their phone bill.
Likewise, you can also give your own points to someone else if you prefer. This can be great if you have a partner who carries a larger Frequent Flyer balance than you do, as you’ll be helping to accrue even more points much faster.
Once you have enough points You can use your Qantas Points to book a one way or return Classic Award for available seats on eligible Qantas, oneworld alliance and other airline partner services.
Business account holders also have the option of attaching another person’s Optus account to your own Optus Rewards account, so that any points they earn are shown in your account balance totals. This is ideal for business owners that have multiple mobile phone accounts operating for various staff members, as they’ll all be accruing more points for the same account. This doesn’t apply to Optus Personal accounts and you will have to become an SMB Nominee (http://www.optusbusiness.com.au/) to show that you’re the nominated person earning rewards on behalf of the business. This is where business owners can benefit by linking their Optus Business account and their Optus Personal account, if desired.
Viewing Your Points
You’re able to see how many points you’ve accrued via your Optus spending amounts simply by logging into your Optus My Account. Your points balance will also be shown in your Optus Rewards account, along with the points earned from any other accounts you have linked.
Removing Your QFF Membership from your Optus Account
If you don’t want to continue earning points from your Optus mobile account, you can unlink your Frequent Flyer account at any time. You will need to do this by going to the Optus website and selecting the "Contact Us" tab above. You then simply request to unlink your accounts. You won’t earn any more points from the moment your accounts are unlinked.
