You can now earn flybuys points at eBay

Plus, get 10x as many flybuys points per $1 spent on your first eBay shop!
Good news, flybuys fans! You can now earn points every time you shop at eBay. So whether you’re upgrading your electronics, treating yourself to beauty products or picking up collectibles, you’ll earn 1 flybuys point per $2 spent on eligible items on eBay. This means that your flybuys points potential has expanded from 32 to more than 40,000 Australian retailers!
As long as you’ve linked your flybuys and eBay accounts before you start shopping, you can start earning points! To celebrate this new partnership, flybuys is also rewarding members with 10x bonus points on their first eBay transaction. This means you’ll earn 20 points per $2 (or 10 points per $1) spent on your first eBay transaction after you've linked your accounts. If you have a big-ticket purchase coming up, you can maximise your points by making sure your first transaction is a big one!
To get even more bang for your buck, you can use your rewards or frequent flyer credit card to shop on eBay. Then you can double dip and earn points on both your credit card and with the new flybuys partnership.
You can see a full list of the transactions that won't earn points on the eBay website, but some ineligible purchases include tobacco-related products, cars, bikes and boats, travel, gift cards and some excluded sellers (including Woolworths Rewards-partnered competitors like Woolworths, Big W and Cellarmaster Wines).
You can also spend your flybuys points on eBay vouchers. A $10 voucher will set you back 2,000 flybuys points which is on par with the exchange if you were to redeem your points for $10 off at Coles.
If you prefer frequent flyer rewards, you can also redeem the flybuys you earn on eBay for Velocity Points. You’ll get the usual exchange rate of 870 Velocity Points for 2,000 flybuys, which boils down to roughly 0.43 Velocity Points per 1 flybuys points you earn from your eBay cart. You can use the Velocity and flybuys calculator on finder to see how many frequent flyer points you could potentially earn at eBay.
If you're a Velocity Frequent Flyer, you can also earn 1 Velocity Point per $1 spent at eBay when you shop via Velocity eStore.
THE POINTS FINDER TAKE
This new partnership offers eBay customers unprecedented rewards potential, but the earn rate is less competitive than what you’d expect when shopping at Coles, Target or Kmart.
eBay now joins more than 30 other flybuys retail partners including the likes of Coles, Target, Kmart and Adidas. However, this new eBay alliance is the biggest flybuys expansion since it partnered with Velocity Frequent Flyer in 2016.
“We are delighted that eBay shoppers can now be rewarded with flybuys points and our members can benefit from the addition of another fantastic partner to the program,” said flybuys general manager Alex Chruszcz. “We want to continue to work with the best brands in Australia to ensure we are offering the most rewarding experience to our members.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen eBay partner with a loyalty program down under. Qantas Frequent Flyers can currently earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eBay. However, you can only earn the points if you shop via the Qantas Online Mall, rather than on the eBay website directly.
