Is it safe to use EXMO?

While you don’t have to verify your account in order to start trading on EXMO, you can provide proof of ID and proof of your address to add increased security to your account and access a wider range of deposit and withdrawal options. EXMO also offers the option of setting up two-factor authentication and to create a list of trusted IP addresses that can log into your account.

Like pretty much every crypto exchange, EXMO has been targeted by hackers in the past. For example, a DDoS attack in December 2017 briefly shut down the exchange.

It’s also worth pointing out that EXMO director Pavel Lerner was kidnapped outside his office in Kiev, Ukraine, late in December 2017. He was later released after paying a US$1 million ransom in bitcoin.
