I’ve been paying nbn broadband provider monthly over 5 years now but the account is under my son’s name. He has moved out and I want to change provider/plan due to speed issue. Seems like my son is always busy and couldn’t help me. Can I cancel his account myself and move on to a new plan?
Thank you for your help.
Lyn.
Hi Lyn, I understand this can be a difficult situation. Unfortunately, only the account holder has the authority to cancel or make significant changes to an NBN account. This means that, as the account is under your son’s name, you’ll need him to cancel the service so you can switch to a different provider. I hope your situation gets resolved soon. Best, Mariam
I would like to discuss cheaper broadband and mobile phone I am currently with NBN and Telstra
Hi Gaynor, you can compare NBN plans using our guide here: https://www.finder.com.au/broadband-plans/nbn. Use the filters in the table to select a speed and price range that suits you best. You can also compare mobile plans here: https://www.finder.com.au/mobile-plans. Hope this helps!
I’m located within 5km’s south of Melb CBD. I currently have Optus NBN – highest plan. WiFi regularly cuts out…have to unplug modem almost every 1-2 weeks to reset. Is this a provider issue?
Hi Tarks, it could be an issue with the provider, the modem itself or something else. This guide can help you understand the various reasons: https://www.finder.com.au/broadband-plans/nbn/slow-nbn-connection-fixes. I would suggest reaching out to Optus to help with the matter in the first instance before looking to switch to another provider. Hope this helps!
I am currently with OPTUS for my home phone and NBN Internet plan. It is rising in price and I want to check other providers.
Hi Gayle, that’s unfortunate! You can check out our top picks for NBN and mobile plans as of this month (we look at both discounts and ongoing prices):

If you want to be with the same provider for both services, your options include Exetel, Superloop, Tangerine, TPG, amaysim and SpinTel. You’ll also be able to get bundling discounts. Hope this helps!
Hi there I am a pensioner retired on a low income. Just need a basic service so I can get Kao and a few different television shows on my smart TV and be able to use my PC instead of my phone for simple emails etc. I have fibre NBN to my house. What is the best suitable deal going around at present. I live in warrnambool Victoria. 3280.
Hi Stephen, it seems like an NBN 25 plan might suit you best. You can compare offers here: https://www.finder.com.au/broadband-plans/nbn/compare-nbn-25-plans. Southern Phone, Dodo, flip, Moose and SpinTel are some good options. They have some deals on right now and the ongoing price is pretty fair compared to others. Hope this helps!
