Sending money with ING: What to know

What we like

  • Wide service range. ING offers a wide range of transfer services through ING Direct, managed by OFX.
  • Reduced overseas fees. If you want to travel with your money, ING has also scrapped international ATM fees.

What to watch out for

  • Concealed exchange rates. Since ING goes through OFX for its international money transfers, you'll need an account with OFX before you can see exchange rates and get a quote.
  • Only supports bank account transfers. You'll need to look elsewhere if your recipient doesn't have a bank account or needs to pick up cash at an agent location.

How do ING's exchange rates compare?

Since ING uses OFX, a specialist money transfer service, for its exchanges, you'll often be getting a better deal than you would at another bank. But how does OFX compare to other similar services out there? You may find better rates and fees below.
