What is Flow?

Flow is a social-focused blockchain (gaming & social media) that is created by Dapper Labs, the team behind CryptoKitties. Due to the scaling problems CryptoKitties had on Ethereum, Flow developers have set out to build a highly scalable and user-friendly platform with an eye on consumer markets. Flow reached mainstream success in 2021 through the launch of NFT platform NBA Topshot's which allows fans to trade digital collectibles. Accordingly, Flow has attracted investment from major firms such as Warner Music, Andreessen Horowitz, and Digital Currency Group. The FLOW token is used for payments, gas fees and governance. It operates as a proof-of-stake token to reward validators with additional tokens for confirming transactions and securing the network.

Flow (FLOW) is the 126th largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap, valued at $348,478,547. The current price of Flow is $7.19, which is -4.763% lower than yesterday. Prices have ranged between $7.55 and $6.25 over the past 24 hours. All prices are listed in US dollars and accurate as of June 23, 2021 08:06 UTC.

What to consider when buying cryptocurrency

Buying cryptocurrency can be a risky endeavor, but there are precautions you can take to help mitigate risk:
  • Don't FOMO buy coins: Spend time researching a coin before you decide to invest, particularly if the coin's price is spiking for seemingly no reason.
  • Stick with well known exchanges: Unless you're an experienced cryptocurrency trader, stick to more well known crypto exchanges to help avoid the possibility of losing your money in a scam. When possible, store your crypto on a hardware wallet instead of on an exchange.
  • Look into the coin's founders and developers: Anonymous teams are often a red flag, so if you can't find details on the creator of the coin you may want to consider investing in a different cryptocurrency.
