What's the easiest way to buy Peanut the Squirrel (PNUT)?

As we've mentioned above, PNUT started life as a pump.fun memecoin and began trading on a number of decentralised exchanges on the Solana network. If you already have a Solana crypto wallet like Phantom, you can trade Peanut the Squirrel directly using Solana (SOL).

Otherwise, the easiest way to buy PNUT will be using one of the centralised exchanges listed above, especially the ones that support AUD deposits and trading. This may also be the most cost-effective method for beginners, as it saves you having to first buy Solana (SOL) tokens and then transferring them to your wallet.

What do I need to buy PNUT?

If you're new to cryptocurrency, you'll likely need the following things to buy Peanut:

  • A form of ID. You'll need this to verify your account with a crypto exchange and begin trading.
  • A payment method. This can be a bank account, credit or debit card, or even another cryptocurrency.
  • Your own crypto wallet. While you can choose to keep your PNUT on the exchange from which you buy it, it's generally safer to store your crypto on your own custodial software or hardware wallet.

Crypto news update: December 2025

Despite dipping in September, the price of Bitcoin is up over 8% in the last month with Ether following at 4%. Meanwhile, Altcoins have been having a moment with BNB one of the top performers, jumping over 20% in the last 30 days alone, XRP up 6% and SOL having jumped 11%.

Meanwhile crypto exchanges in Australia will soon need to hold a financial services license (AFSL) under new draft legislation. Once rolled out, it means exchanges will be held to the same reporting and compliance standards as superfunds and online brokers.
