Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7: Australian release date + rumours

Samsung is gearing up to unveil its latest innovations at the 2025 Galaxy Unpacked event in New York. Here's what we know so far.
The new financial year is just around the corner, and so is another wave of phone launches.
We're expecting Samsung to launch its latest foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, right on schedule.
While the invite doesn't name the models, the clue is hard to miss: "Join us as we unfold the future of Galaxy innovation".
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025: Date, time and how to watch
Galaxy Unpacked 2025 will be held on 10 July 2025 at 12am AEST in Brooklyn, New York.
Unfortunately, the timing isn't great for those of us in Australia unless you're a bit of a night owl.
You can livestream the event on Samsung's website or its YouTube channel.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 release date and availability in Australia
We're expecting pre-orders to kick off the same day, 10 July.
Samsung might get the ball rolling with other retailers and telcos going live a little bit later that morning.
Samsung phone launches are usually worth keeping an eye on if you're after pre-order deals.
There's almost always something on offer, whether from Samsung directly, telcos such as Optus, Telstra and Vodafone, or retailers such as Amazon and JB Hi-Fi.
If past timelines are anything to go by, the pre-order period could run for around two weeks - putting the official sale date for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 around 24 July.
Of course, that's still speculative for now.
How much will the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 cost in Australia?
We won't know for sure until 10 July, but fingers crossed the prices are similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.
The only caveat is Nieuwe Mobiel found references in an Italian electronics store that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 would be €100 and €200 more expensive.
Either way, we'll find out soon enough. Here's a look at last year's prices so you have ballpark figures of what to expect:
Galaxy Z Flip 6 | |
---|---|
Galaxy Z Flip 6 256GB | $1,799 |
Galaxy Z Flip 6 512GB | $1,999 |
Galaxy Z Fold 6 | |
Galaxy Z Fold 6 256GB | $2,749 |
Galaxy Z Fold 6 512GB | $2,949 |
Galaxy Z Fold 6 1TB | $3,299 |
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 rumours and teasers
The rumour mill's been buzzing, and it sounds like there may be a new foldable in the mix.
This is less of a rumour and more of a hint, based on a teaser from Samsung shared earlier this month.
Its statement said: "With industry-leading hardware, cutting-edge performance and seamless AI integration optimised for the foldable format, it's what users have come to expect from Galaxy Ultra.
"And when it unfolds, it transforms – into a more immersive entertainment hub, a spacious workspace, or a multitasking powerhouse, now enhanced by powerful Galaxy AI features designed specifically for the foldable form."
In another teaser, Samsung suggested the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 would be thinner and lighter than ever before.
"The newest Galaxy Z series is the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet - meticulously crafted and built to last."
Other things we've read:
- According to Android Central, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will sport larger inner and outer displays - a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8.2-inch main screen.
- Ice Universe says "the thinnest folding machine in the world" will measure 3.9mm and 8.9mm when opened.
- NOTEBOOKCHECK reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will launch in three main colours: Blue Shadow, Jet Black and Silver Shadow.
- SamMobile claims it'll come with a 200-megapixel camera, the same as the S25 Ultra, the same 4,400mAh battery as last year, and the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
- Another SamMobile report suggests there may be production issues with the S Pen, which is said to be different from previous versions. With Samsung slimming down the device, the company may need to find a new way to register stylus input.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 rumours
It looks like the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is set to receive a significant upgrade over the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Here's a rundown of some of the biggest rumours:
- A Livewire report suggests it'll feature a telephoto camera for the very first time. This allows you to zoom into faraway objects without compromising on camera quality.
- Phone Arena says the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is likely to have a redesigned cover display, which would make it much bigger than its predecessor (6.85 inches versus 6.7 inches).
- Android Central reports that the phone is rumoured to have a larger battery, a capacity of 4,300mAh, which is 300mAh larger than the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
- The same report also suggests that Samsung might be utilising both the Snapdragon 8 Elite and the Exynos 2500 chips to power the phone.
That's all the highlights we've got for now.
