Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 specs and features
Let's fold first before flipping (sorry, I had to!).
Galaxy Z Fold 7 - What's new?

Last year, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 disappointed. It was just a slightly better version of its predecessor.
This year, things are looking up, except for one key missing piece, which is the lack of any mention of S Pen support.
Here's a rundown of the highlights:
- It's Samsung's slimmest and lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet with 'ultra-level' specs and features. For context, the S25 Ultra weighs 218g. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 weighs 215g. Fortunately, this hasn't resulted in a smaller battery size.
- When unfolded, it offers the most expansive screen on a Galaxy smartphone to date. It's 11% larger than last year's model, giving more screen real estate for content editing and multitasking. For example, you can read messages while watching YouTube.
- It's also more durable than ever before, courtesy of a new FlexHinge, a stronger glass ceramic to increase protection, as well as a more robust aluminium frame.
- The new 200-megapixel wide-angle camera will offer four times more detail in the photos you take, and the images will be 44% brighter.
- The Night Video feature uses motion detection to separate moving objects from still backgrounds.
- The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip offers faster performance across the board - up to 41% better for AI tasks, 38% faster processing and 26% better graphics.
- AI tools have been optimised for a larger display. You get the usual slew of photo, video and audio editing features. But the cool thing with the bigger screen is you can look at the original image and the edited images side-by-side.
- Oh, and the Blue Shadow colour is absolutely stunning!
Galaxy Z Flip 7 - What's new?

Samsung is dubbing the Galaxy Z Flip 7 a pocket-sized AI powerhouse and a pocket-sized selfie studio. Here are the highlights:
- The new FlexWindow is its biggest, thinnest and brightest yet, so you can do more on the main cover screen, even on a sunny day.
- Everything is meant to look and feel more vivid and fluid, making it easier to type out messages, check your calendar and more.
- It also has a bigger battery life than the previous model, with enough additional power to stream an extra movie, according to Samsung. Overall, video playback on a single charge has gone up to 31 hours.
- You can now see filters live on the cover screen before you snap your selfie, so there's no need to guess what your photo will look like. Plus, the new ZoomSlider allows you to quickly zoom in and out with just a swipe.
- A cool new feature is that when the timer starts counting down while you're standing for your picture-perfect shot, it shifts towards the camera circles to make you intuitively look at the camera.
- The camera circles also light up in either yellow or red to help you tell whether you're taking a photo or a video.
- You can also turn on video and ask Gemini fun questions, like which colours it thinks suit you best.
What about the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE?
This is the first fan edition model in the Galaxy Z series. According to Samsung, 1 in 3 Aussies said they'd consider a flip if it were more affordable.
So it's definitely cheaper and more compact than the Galaxy Z Flip 7. You can compare them side-by-side in our specs table.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 first impressions
I've only been hands-on with the foldables for an hour or so, so watch out for my in-depth review in the coming days.
But as far as first impressions go, I reckon Samsung's nailed the right upgrades (almost).
For example, it honestly blew me away how light the Galaxy Z Fold 7 felt in my hands. I also think the camera upgrade was extremely necessary, given the price point.
What I don't love is the price increase and the missing S-Pen support, or the fact that it wasn't mentioned at all in Samsung's briefing and marketing materials.
If I were using the Galaxy Z Fold 7, I'd expect to treat it like a mini tablet and be able to do things like quickly scribble notes or draw. I feel like this might be a deal-breaker for some people.
I can, however, get behind the Galaxy Z Flip 7 (as much as you can without a proper review), especially with its larger display and battery and all the small but quirky changes that Samsung's made, which I've covered in the highlights.
Samsung also announces the new Galaxy Watch 8 series
If you want to pair your new foldable with more new tech, keep reading.
The Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic have had a design revamp. They're slimmer and sit more flush on the wrist for better comfort.
Other highlights include:
- The Galaxy Watch 8 offers a minimalistic look, while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic offers 'timeless sophistication' with a rotation bezel and an action button on the side.
- The watches have been redesigned to help you build healthier habits. You'll get handy new features like Bedtime Guidance, a new Antioxidant Index to measure your carotenoid levels, and an improved Running Coach to help you avoid injury, especially if you're just getting started.
- You can also go hands-free to chat to Gemini for tasks such as setting a timer for your run.
- If you love the outdoors, the new Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) offers a longer battery life and better performance.
Prices start at $649 for the Galaxy Watch 8, $899 for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and $1,299 for the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
