Vodafone raises postpaid mobile plan prices – is it still cheaper than Telstra and Optus?

Key takeaways
- Vodafone has increased the price of its postpaid mobile plans by $5 a month for new customers.
- This comes after it raised its prepaid prices back in April.
- Its postpaid plans are still cheaper than Telstra's and Optus's, but the gap between Vodafone and Optus is now much narrower.
When Telstra and Optus raised their postpaid mobile plan prices in May, we wondered whether Vodafone would follow suit.
It took a little longer, but Vodafone has now done the same.
What do Vodafone's postpaid mobile plan prices look like now?
Vodafone's prices have gone up by $5 a month, but it's also upped its data allowance across all 3 plans.
Here's a look at the changes:
| Plan | Old price and data allowance | New price and data allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Small Plan | $53 a month for 60GB | $58 a month for 65GB |
| Medium Plan | $63 a month for 200GB | $68 a month for 220GB |
| Large plan | $73 a month for 400GB | $78 a month for 420GB |
The timing is consistent with last year, when Vodafone raised the prices of these same plans by $4 a month.
And back in April, it hiked the prices of its prepaid plans between $1 to $30, depending on the expiry length (7 days, 28 days or 6-12 months).
How do Optus and Telstra stack up in comparison?
