Vodafone hikes prepaid plan prices – are they still worth it?

Vodafone will increase the prices of its prepaid mobile plans by $1, to $30, depending on the expiry length.
Vodafone's price hikes will kick in on 15 April 2026 for both new and existing customers.
The changes will be felt across the majority of its prepaid plans.
At the same time, it's increasing data allowances in most cases and raising the data rollover limit from 200GB to 300GB.
Here's a look at how much more you'll have to pay:
| Plan | Old price and data allowance | New price and data allowance |
|---|---|---|
| 7-day expiry plan | $12 for 5GB | $13 for 5GB |
| 28-day expiry plan | $35 for 25GB | $40 for 30GB |
| 28-day expiry plan | $45 for 35GB | $50 for 40GB |
| 28-day expiry plan | $55 for 50GB | $60 for 55GB |
| 6-month expiry plan | $160 for 90GB | $180 for 100GB |
| 12-month expiry plan | $250 for 150GB | No change |
| 12-month expiry plan | $320 for 220GB | $350 for 250GB |
Vodafone hasn't mentioned any changes to its postpaid plan prices just yet.
That could be because it already lifted prices by $4 a month in July 2025.
We might see a similar timeframe this year if another increase is on the cards.
Vodafone isn't alone in raising mobile plan prices
Optus will increase the price of its postpaid plans by $5 a month from 18 May.
Telstra is making similar moves across both its prepaid and postpaid mobile plans from 5 May.
Most postpaid plans are going up by $4 a month and prepaid prices are increasing by $2 to $5.
This is the second price hike in less than 12 months.
Are Vodafone's prepaid mobile plans still worth it?
If there's an offer available, Vodafone's plans can definitely be worth considering.
However, its ongoing prices and data allowances aren't as strong when you look at the cost per GB.
With that in mind, there are plenty of prepaid mobile plans on the market to choose from.
Here's a look at some 28-day, 6-month and 365-day plans to get you started.
